Excellent rangefinder - binoculars

Arrived ahead of schedule in excellent condition. I've used it up to 300 meters and it works great. Great range finder for the price.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • No instructions

Impeccable performance - binoculars and scopes

I bought a professional Stock 1000i and normally use it up to 200 meters. It measures consistently and accurately. I haven't used it to the full but it takes care of my long range needs to determine the best point to aim.

Pros
  • High support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Updates available

Wildly inaccurate for binoculars

I thought the PROSTAFF 1000 was a replacement for the AL11. It is not. Not even close. PROSTAFF 1000 is cheaply made and only shows whole meters. If accuracy matters, pass this device on. If you're expecting Nikon build quality, don't buy this device. Under ideal conditions of use (a clear, bright, sunny day) it works well at close range. UPDATE: January 2021 As I learned above, this is not a high accuracy instrument, but I assumed it would still be accurate. Unfortunately, this turned out to…

Great for daytime observation

No backlight, but if you're hunting during the day it's clear enough to see in most conditions. Corner balance on the 1000i was perfect every time. I shoot 300 yards at 8 inch steel targets with no problem. I don't keep shooting, but it's good to know if it's worth getting closer to the target. various objects just for fun, my greatest range was in open water, 1149 yards to a tug. The average distance for me was accurate for cows well over 600 yards, deer and coyotes up to 500 yards, turkeys…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • fades out

The range finder works at fairly short ranges eg 100 yards. I've found a large hard surface to wobble. However, I had to be very still to photograph small objects (like a tree or a neighbor's sheep). Most of the time I've found that the rangefinder doesn't show anything at 200 yards or more. examples. Hovering 400 yards over the side of a barn returns a reading; Sheep grazing near the same barn will not have their readings returned. When focusing on a tree (9 inch diameter) at the end of the…
