I don't know why NordicWare couldn't take a page from a Tupperware or Rubbermaid book and make durable plastic that can be washed in the dishwasher and cleaned with a knife, but at least this bread stand fits perfectly and does the job. I was initially hesitant to buy this one as reviews don't seal adequately but are very similar to the single use plastic jars you can buy at the supermarket; It just squeezes two pieces of plastic very tightly so no air can get in unless you squeeze it, but it's not waterproof.
