Corkscrews are great…. But not this one.

This is not the first corkscrew of this type that I have bought, I always give away the one I have and replace when I buy a new one. This time I decided to try this one, I like the black blades, the rest is silver. However, it was difficult to insert this in order to get the cork out anyway. With other corkscrews, this was an easy task. i will return it

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • No paint required

I have an old 2 prong corkscrew from .

I have an old two prong corkscrew that I visited at the winery many years ago and it has worked well. I ordered this Norpro in reserve. Higher quality than the Vacu-Vin version. The handle is slightly larger and feels better in the hand. Most corkscrews of this type share the same basic design and work well when used correctly. I use an electric corkscrew with a regular corkscrew. Older corks are more brittle and this is where two-pronged corks work best.

Ideal solution for kitchen and dining room

Just what I needed - a corkscrew for traumatically removing corks from old wines. I have many bottles of old wine that I love, but corking them has always been a nightmare. The corks inevitably broke and fell into the wine, requiring a special filtration scheme. I have opened several bottles of old wine with this extractor with complete success and a whole cork. There is definitely a learning curve and definitely a cork can be put in as mentioned in other reviews so time and attention is key!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Very expensive

A must for old wines

This cork cork is essential if you have wines older than 10 years. The cork in old wine bottles is fragile. Spiral corks don't work well with old corks as they break corks in the middle. In case you're wondering, they work with young wine bottles too! The reviewers who gave it a low score may have abused it. . It's hard to describe in words, but there are tutorial videos online. It is better to put the wine bottle on a lower surface (cork at belly level or below) so that it can be easily pulled

Pros
  • Looking forward to it
Cons
  • Negative impression

Takes out corks for bar and wine tools

I have a few cases of old (pre 2000) wines. If you've ever removed a cork from a 25-year-old Taxi or Bourdeaux, you know that the bottom third is likely to remain in the bottle with any corkscrew remover. This is the perfect solution. To use it, it takes a little practice to get the cork intact. Love it and recommend it to anyone who has old wines or planning to return a few bottles for 10-15 years. It's better to play it safe than trying to uncork that well-aged bottle you've been wanting to…

Works perfectly! Won't damage cork

I've been using the same Ah So style opener for over twenty years. I prefer it to a corkscrew because it won't damage the cork. I ordered this one when I lost my old one. I have since found my old one. They work the same. This seems to be better made than my old one. If someone has any problems with it, it's probably because they don't know how to use it. Insert the longer pin on one side of the cork, then insert the shorter pin on the other side. Gently shake Ahso back and forth until it…

I'm sure: Bar & Wine Tools

I had an old wine bottle that had been lying on its side for years and I decided it was time to open it. When I used my traditional rabbit lever to pop the cork out, it just popped out without removing it, even though the bottle was stored properly. He has never let me down. I bought this opener and in fact it easily removed the cork on the first try. Insert the longer blade on one side of the cork and the shorter blade on the opposite side of the cork. Since the cork was already damaged, I…
