Barebone motor - easy installation

Replaced the motor in a 20 year old Nutone 9965 multi-component vertical block (ventilation, heating, night light, main lighting) which otherwise would have cost me hundreds to replace of dollars. All in all an easy DIY project BUT. and pay attention. This is a BAREBONE engine - do your homework on any parts that need to be replaced and reinstalled before starting the project, as some of these may be worn out and not going back into place properly.

Exact replacement but too expensive

This is an EXACT replacement for our fan. It took a Phillips screwdriver to take the fan apart, pliers to remove the old fan cage, and a small hammer to put the fan cage back onto the new shaft. The total exchange time was about 10 minutes and I was in no hurry. After one, I made another NuTone using Century Electric Motors C01575 universal fan motor for $22 less. This fan took about 5 minutes to replace the first one from my EXPERIENCE. I would give this fan 5 stars if it weren't so expensive…

Solid replacement is best on power tools and housewares

As one user wrote, it's "a great alternative to replacing the entire assembly" in terms of affordability versus paying someone else to install it. This was the first time I've done this type of work and when I realized the problem was in the old engine, this was the solution. I will say that while using the old fan impeller, keep the shaft lock washers intact. I had to spray some WD-40 on it and carefully pry it away from the wheel with needle nose pliers to loosen the old motor, then spray…
