Addition to my 50 year old hickory collection

My original vintage hickory paring knife was given to me by my grandmother Gill for my wedding. It has been an indispensable helper in my kitchen over the years. I like the quality of this knife and its durability. I use it when I need to trim or cut anything and have never been disappointed in using it.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Damaged

HIGH Maintenance for Paring Knife

Bought a full set of these. Sharp, well-controlled knives, but very demanding to care for. I put them on the counter right out of the box. There must have been a few drops of water on it. The blades were rusty and the wood was stained and discolored. They cannot stand even the slightest moisture. They must be washed and dried immediately. If I had known that, I would not have bought them.

Pros
  • Durable Finish
Cons

You can't beat the Old Hickory Paring Knife

Inexpensive, durable, classic. Remember this is carbon steel, not stainless. That's why it has a good edge, but you have to take care of it. For camping, I put mine in a toothbrush holder and also carry a small piece of fleece with a touch of mineral oil. After washing the knife, I dry it thoroughly and then wipe the blade with oiled fleece. No rust.

Pros
  • Good Thing
Cons
  • The list will go on.

Great durable knife for indoor and outdoor cooking

I've been a Victorinox fan for a long time. This is my second vintage hickory knife I've bought. I like how the pen feels. The blade is much thicker than my Victorinox paring knife. It withstands my outdoor violence and the blade sharpens very quickly. This knife also works well indoors. This is a true stainless steel knife, so it must be kept clean and dry after use.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Safety

You can't beat Old Hickory!

I can't say enough good things about these GREAT knives! I grew up with old hickory knives all around the house and I just can't do without at least one or two in the kitchen. They have solid construction, very good edge retention and to be honest I haven't found another product that compares to the Old Hickory brand! It can be sharpened when it gets dull and if you take care of it, it will last you almost forever! I wouldn't need to buy more, but as my kids left home and moved to their own…

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Low quality. Not high in carbon. Terrible tailor.

I understand this knife cost $9 so I wasn't expecting much; but from the moment I got my hands on it, I realized it was junk. I don't know everything about knives and steel, but I know a lot (I've been making knives for over a year). The knife blade is very blunt. It's a bit spicy but makes for a terrible slicer. Also, the blade doesn't even look hardened. My plan was to modify the knife into a good general purpose knife for hiking and camping. I took the file to the edge and she stuck right in

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
