Nice accessory.

Although my Olympus E-PL1 is not compatible with this remote release cable, my SZ-31MR is. This is very useful when the camera is on a tripod. It would be nice if Olympus made an extension cord for it or just made the cord about 2 feet longer. Even better, I made them in different lengths! Update - I just tried this on my SZ-16 iHS and it works with it too, although Olympus doesn't list it as an accessory for the SZ-16.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Great quality, great functionality.

Bought to remotely trigger a DSLR on a telescope. I looked at fakes but decided I would go with Olympus and I'm glad I did. This is good build quality, user-friendly interfaces and full functionality, including half-press and lamp blocking. It's expensive for what it is, but I expect it to last a long time if I take some care. And of course he does what he has to do. Release the shutter without pressing the camera!

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Avoid shaking the camera when you press the shutter button.

I use this remote release when I put my telephoto Olympus on a tripod to avoid camera movement when the shutter button is pressed. The cable, which some criticized as too short, is just right for this. A longer one would require rolling it up or something and making it more difficult to carry. I used to use an Opteka remote that failed after a while, apparently following the connector that plugs into the camera. The Olympus product seems to be of higher quality (as it should be, 6-8 times more…

USB RM-UC1 remote shutter release

I bought it with my Olympus E-M1 and it works as advertised. The USB RM-UC1 is approximately 38 inches long. The length suits me, but here Revain, the product specs don't mention the length of the cord. (important for some) At $37 (US) that's a bit steep for this type of imo accessory. A quick look on eBay reveals some cheaper options for the same cable; too late for me, but not for the seekers. If it was half the price and provided a better description of the product I would give a full 5…

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged

why is it so huge

The Micro 4/3 mirrorless system is amazing because it packs so many features into such a tiny size. Olympus has done a fantastic job miniaturizing their camera bodies, lenses and even flashes (the FL-600R is great). So why is the wired remote so HUGE?! It's a button and a switch and nothing else. and it's HUGE! Way more than any Canon cable edition I've bought for my SLRs and dSLRs over the years. The case is 11 cm long and 16 mm thick. Of course, if Olympus can pack a 14-150mm with 10.7x zoom…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable
