Description of OTC 6187 TORX PLUS Socket

TP40 Torx PLUS bit socket with 3/8 inch square drive; Torx PLUS design is an evolution of the original Torx design that features lobes that are more square to allow for higher torque and minimize wear. Torx PLUS bit sockets are for use with Torx PLUS fasteners only - these bit sockets are not compatible with standard Torx fasteners. Made with two piece construction S2 grade steel, one of the highest quality tool grade steels used in production, this bit socket is designed for endurance. A natural finish ensures that this socket won’t crack or peel like many chrome plated versions can.

Good engagement - Star Drive

Bought to fix an oil leak in my Subaru transmission, worked great, good engagement, secure fit with no torx damage plus screws

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Out of style

Good product, the best among power tools and hand tools

High quality torx bit, well made. Used it on an ATI damper and worked fine. It was a little pricey, but it's a unicorn at any dealership that only sells the T40.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • There are cons

TP40 not the best T40 in single drive sockets

Bought to install bolts in a flatbed truck. Little did I know TP40s like this didn't fit T40 bolts. The wings are too fat. I had to buy real T40 bits.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Repair

Will not fit T-40 screws

Got a replacement for my set and tried it out. They won't fit T-40 bolts because they're too big. I bought a new one from another company, everything works. Most likely it was a mislabel.

Pros
  • Hand tool
Cons
  • old

Definitely buy if you have an ATI damper!

As many others have pointed out, if you have an ATI damper you need this torx bit. Don't even think about using a stock T40 for this shock. Worked perfectly to get TP40 screws out of my ATI and Amazon delivered same day.

Pros
  • Tools & Housewares
Cons
  • New Competitors Arrive

Worked great: Power and Hand Tools

Like others I bought this to build an ATI Harmonic Balancer. Why they would use an odd size like the T40 PLUS is beyond me. I'll probably never use this thing again unless I buy or break another ATI balancer, but I have one in my toolbox now.

Pros
  • Star Drive
Cons
  • I'll write later
