HIGH SIDES: Cookware

I bought this pan after America's Test Kitchen ranked it number one. After receiving and using it I am disappointed. At some point in my past, I remember working as a professional chef at a diner in Santa Monica, California. That's important because if I can't flip a couple of scrambled eggs in an 8-inch pan, it's useless to me. This OXO has almost straight sides. Suitable for cooks with a spatula, but not for professionals.

Ergonomic grip but heavy and unbalanced. Tends to tip over.

A year has passed with the 8 inch version of this pan. Now that the non-stick coating is peeling off, I won't be buying it again. The shape of the handle is comfortable for my hands, but it's too heavy compared to the pan itself, so it's prone to tipping over when filled with hot food.

The bottom of the pan melted after a year

Purchased December 2019 Never leave a frying pan unattended or use it over high heat. The non-stick coating is great, but the bottom of the pan melts. I've been buying crockery for 50 years and I've never experienced anything like this. I contacted OXO via the online application form and received an immediate response with a link number. They said they would contact me within 24 hours. It was two weeks ago. I called the toll free number but they hung up after 30 minutes. Revain did not respond…

No tip! for cookware

I read reviews that mentioned the problem of the empty pan tipping over because the handle was too heavy and another review that said the design problem was fixed. I love the other pans I have in this range and wanted a smaller one so I contacted the seller, Chefs Corner, to inquire about the pan. I got a quick response: the seller opened the package in the frying pan to test for tipping. Since the report said the pan didn't tip over, I ordered right away. The pan is great! I live alone, so…

No tip! good for cookware

I saw a review of this pan on America's Test Kitchen which I use for all my kitchen appliances. I have never received anything but excellent from them; You control everything! So when I received it I was very curious if this pan was really out of whack as some of the reviews say. Attached are three pictures. My hob is often very unstable due to the design of all the teeth. I move it all over the hob and it has never tipped over. I knew the American test kitchen tested stuff like that... ease of

Comparing my 8 " OXO to my old 8 " Calphalon

Great nonstick pan but some balance issues (see video). When I'm empty I have to move the pan on top of the stove to keep it from tipping over. It doesn't seem to be a problem if there is food in the pot. Maybe it's the handle to pan weight ratio, or maybe it's the ridge on the outer bottom of the OXO pan that my Calphalon pan doesn't have (see picture). I compared the OXO to my old Calphalon pan - both 8". The flat surface of the OXO pan is also slightly smaller (about 5 1/2 inches) than my…

Sturdy 8 " pan, depending on which model you actually get

I first bought this pan about a year ago. The quality of the pan is superb, especially since we don't handle it very carefully (we use a metal fork etc.) However, as mentioned in another review, its base isn't wide enough to make it unstable in our range, but this is my husband's favorite pan so I have Bought this pan again when it came time to replace the old pan. This time you can make the pan wider and it no longer swings in range.I was so happy that OXO fixed the design issue so I got…

Really nice pan and just the right size BUT!

Despite all the warnings, I've never owned a non-stick pot or pan. But, especially lately, some of the recipes I want to make specifically call for a nonstick pan. I have a 6 inch pan that is fine for boiling a couple of eggs but there isn't much else I can do. I also have a 10" pan, but that's often too big. So I needed an intermediate, so I got this one. It's actually non-stick (surprise!) which is really nice. I stick to the directions the little note that comes with it and I hope to enjoy…
