Not just plug and play.

Purchased to upgrade an aftermarket Harley radio. I installed other steering wheel controls that were much simpler and more comfortable. I work with relays and resistors on a daily basis. So it's not like it's a difficult setup. But much seemed unnecessary. This product required the use of 6 different resistors and the need for programming. I really wasn't interested in doing over a dozen solder points and downloading everything and having this mess behind my dash. So I returned it and bought a

Pros
  • Customizable Button Functions (Short Press/Long Press/Key Remapping)
Cons
  • Protection

I highly recommend that you download the instructions specifically for your car and stereo BEFORE you make a purchase. There are general instructions as well as vehicle specific instructions that apply to YOUR vehicle that you can check. The PAC website was simple and easy to navigate to find your vehicle and its specific installation instructions. If you're not sure you can do the work yourself, either program it or maybe solder a diode or capacitor (included) for certain applications, spring…

Pros
  • Save steering wheel controls for 3000+ vehicles quickly and easily with PAC SWI-RC-1
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Works great

Installed on a 2012 Nissan Altima 2.5S Bluetooth model and works great. Although faced with some difficulties due to lack of resources on the Internet. Here are some tips to follow: 1) Purchase a complete wiring harness as shown below so you don't need to connect additional wires to control the steering wheel from the car wiring harness. I used breakers so the wires can be easily swapped out in case of miswiring. Also, everything in your house can be pre-wired so you can just plug it in when…

Pros
  • Compatible with all latest radios with a 3.5mm jack or bi-wire connection
Cons
  • Security

I bought this device to save a few bucks knowing there are other products that are easier to use (Metra Axxess ASWC-1 etc). In hindsight, I probably should have gone the more expensive route considering how much extra time I spent figuring things out. Anyway, for my 2012 Tundra I also had to buy a Metra 70-8114 steering wheel controller harness so it could be connected. directly to the wiring harness of the old car radio. I have a newer 2 din Boss stereo. To get things done you basically…

Pros
  • Quick and easy pre-programmed button function via DIP switch selection
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.

Get a block that doesn't need resistors!

Get a device that doesn't need a resistor. Seriously what a pain it was. For my application I had to add a 150 ohm resistor to make it work. Comes with several different resistors in one bag. I couldn't figure out which one was 150 ohms. What I don't understand is that there are 2 extra wires coming off the white wire that everything is connected to. A straight white wire, a white/red wire with a 150 ohm resistor, and a white/black wire with a 450 ohm resistor. I'm not sure why I couldn't use a

  • Supports classic SWI-RC style button programming
Cons
  • The list will be long.

It works in the end, but is it worth it?

Will it work? Yes. Is it working fine? Good enough. Installed on a 2001 Infiniti QX4 (identical to a 2002-2003 Nissan Pathfinder) with a JVC stereo, keeping the stock amp and Bose speakers (this requires a different unit but is unrelated to this part). However. Installation is a big problem. Annoyance to such an extent that I almost ended up installing it. SWI-RC is a universal steering wheel control interface. It works with most cars and most stereo systems. In theory, a great feature to brag…

MITSUBISHI MIRAGE GT & KENWOOD HEAD UNIT 2018

I ordered this unit as "used". I saved about $4 (usually about $28). I was expecting a worn out product. The item came in the original packaging which looked like NEW. The device inside looked practically new, except for a couple of wires that had been severed. instructions sucks. The online instructions are only for Mitsubishi Mirages 2014-2017. I drive 2018. Slightly different wiring than 2017. I installed a non-original KENWOOD HEAD UNIT (HU), model DDX26BT. Below are the detailed…
