Pentek 158110 Clear Filter Housing Review

I bought this about 3 years ago to pre-filter water for a humidifier on a furnace because I use it I have had enough of clogged solenoid valves, screens and water panels so often. It turned out to be a great investment. It was amazing to see so much dirt removed from the city water supply, greatly extending the life of my Aprilaire components! Unless you're connecting directly to 1/2" or larger copper pipe through fittings, I recommend a bracket. It's a little flimsy, but it helps.

Disappointing on this unit. After seeing such great reviews I bought one of these units to serve as an under sink filter. Although the leakage was slow, a small amount of water leaked out between the blue screw at the top and the transparent case. No additional tightening solved the problem. Most likely this was due to a bad o-ring or poorly made threads between the top and bottom; so i ordered a replacement. I have replaced my old solid brown canister with the clear bottom of this new model so I can see and visually monitor any buildup or debris inside. It fitted perfectly and bolted onto my existing 10 year old unit under my sink! Very durable and well made, I'm glad I switched, now I feel more confident being able to see what I'm drinking.
