This made it difficult to snap into place, but when I put it in place it seemed to stay put. I really liked this carrier, it fits my new puppy perfectly. However, there are a few issues that didn't bother me. One is the velcro on the bottom, or the bracket that attaches the metal bars is too flimsy and comes off easily which isn't a big problem as the dog's weight presses the bottom of the bracket against the bars, but the velcro does should stick to itself and secure what it is intended for.
