Ideal for a medium sized dog

I bought this item to use when hiking with my dog. Daphne (my dog) doesn't get along well with other dogs so I needed something to support her weight when she's trying to chase another dog. I didn't want to use rope as the ropes will fray and break. This cable was perfect. It has a plastic cover that didn't fray or tear while wrapping the cord around the tree. It was strong enough to hold my dog and the quality of the hooks was perfect. This cable has no flaws and you can't beat the price. Iโ€ฆ

GOOD, DURABLE CABLES, EXCEPT ONE!

We use this leash to keep our 13lb 8 year old tomcat Buddy in check when he wants to be outside. After successfully using this cable several times, one day a friend saw a squirrel and the hunt began. We expected Buddy to be reticent when he finished. NOT CORRECT! Oh, the cable held up perfectly, but the rivet connecting the latch to the swivel broke exactly in half, and Buddy rode on. The hunt ended when the squirrel ran into a tree and Buddy gave up and was easily stopped. The rivet seems toโ€ฆ

I purchased this cable based on reviews and claims that the product could handle a dog up to 125lbs. I received the item this morning and 15 minutes after I put my 60lb Siberian Husky on a leash he was chasing a rabbit in the yard and the end of the leash's metal buckles came loose. It was a good thing I decided to stay here and pull out some weeds so I could react fast enough to catch my 1 year old energetic and extremely fast fluffy baby before it hit the main street where I live , could runโ€ฆ

We have six months of use.

I waited a bit before testing this to see how it held up. Important things: I have 2 large dogs who are not attached to anything. The cable runs over the concrete stairs when ascending and descending and in all directions in between. In bad weather it is not brought in and the dogs only go outside when it rains when the garden gets damp. They report several times a week, in winter and spring several times a day. It was delivered to me on 10/12/2019, today 08/05/2020 it broke and the reason weโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Safety Threats: Training and Behavior Guides

If you have a small dog under ten pounds this is a good lightweight leash that is easy to clean. BUT, when your dog chews on the leash, it doesn't last long and can be fatal. My dog chewed on both sides in about 2-3 months of use. When she first did it, the sharp, frayed wires were exposed under the plastic and very dangerous. They got stuck in her fur and cut into her skin. I needed wire cutters to cut the leash and then had to try to restrain my squirming dog and use a combination of scissors

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled
