Works well but could be stronger

These doors are not easy to manufacture. I've tried several, this one worked the best. My cat comes and goes as she pleases so as not to wake me up at night. This is a huge bonus. Pieces of metal get caught in the magnet around her neck, which the cat doesn't seem to mind. She comes home with "jewelry" - nails and the like. Sometimes pieces of metal get stuck to the magnet in the door causing it not to work properly and my cat not getting out. From time to time you should clean the door. The…

Superb cat door - don't listen to negative reviews

Superb cat door - don't listen to negative reviews. I've had the same door for 9 years now and it still works great! I bought this because we just had 3 kittens and needed to separate older cats in a separate area. (Because of the bad reviews on this door, I first bought a similar battery powered magnetic cat door - big mistake! The door would not close fully if one of the cats came out too slowly, thus leaving it in position for the other animal (wild cat, raccoon, possum, skunk, etc.) to open

Works well good for cat doors

This cat door works as described. It was easy enough to teach a cat to walk through, but it works with a strong magnet, makes a loud noise and tugs on the collar when the cat walks through, so some cats might be scared. Also the valve is hard plastic and it goes down quite hard and noisy, my cat hates it because she keeps wagging her tail. Binding clips to see on her magnet. She once attached my car keys to a magnet, and when she lays down next to my laptop, the magnet turns off the screen. So…

Determined cats will laugh at this little door

We will refund these once we get a replacement. We used to have a magnetically operated door and it worked fine. When we needed another one we forgot what brand we had and went with this one. That does not work. We don't put a key/magnet on the collar of a cat that we don't want. He simply leans against her with his massive body and tilts the door until it opens. So we decided to ban all cats by turning the latch to only allow exit: no one will enter once they come out. Our one year old cat…

won't stop a determined animal

I bought this door so my cat who is battling cancer would have access to food during the day. We cut a hole in the bathroom door and installed this door. We've done this for another cat before and it worked great with a different door. This door seemed more substantial and more likely to keep my food-motivated cats out. Unfortunately, the way it's set up made it easy for my cats to push the door to one side, stick their paw in, and then break through. We tried a few different settings and each…

The unlocking mechanism is poorly placed

This door has two main disadvantages.1. The collar magnet should be close enough to the tunnel floor for the trigger mechanism to work, so none of my three cats who previously had a non-locking cat flap could get used to going through the flap with their heads down. enough to unlock it. The cat should basically put its chin on the bottom of the tunnel, and then the door still can't open (see disadvantage #2).2. You can work around mistake #1 by disabling the lock by placing a strong flat disc…
