Pop Lock PL1700 Manual Tailgate Review

good replacement part for original manual tailgate handle. The original broke but I think this one will last longer as it seems better built. ,. easy installation too. !, although I wish the key was a bit bigger as this one is small. very similar to the master lock key. but unbeatable for the price. for some security relief of the tools I carry in my GMV van. ! I bought this Pop & Lock PL1700C in June 2017 but didn't give it an immediate rating because I've never written product reviews. until now. In the last 3 months there have been 3 instances where I have not been able to open the tailgate with this latch handle. The first time I couldn't open the tailgate after slamming the tailgate. Later that day I tried opening it again and after removing the tailgate trim to find out why it wouldn't open, I found that one of the metal rods attached to the handle had come loose from the mechanism. After that I decided to save this handle and always pull the handle to the open position when opening

***Edit 2022. I've had to fix this thing a few more times. I think my impromptu repair with "plastic welding" and reinforcing some spots with metal (finishing nails) is stronger than the original product. ***Reworked June 2020 Shaft completely broken in the middle.*** Update.
