Works as advertised

I changed the spark plugs on a car I just bought, a 2005 Ford Mustang, 138,000 miles. They haven't been changed for a long time. When I tucked one back in, I squeezed it a little, messing up the top threads. I unplugged it and couldn't plug it back in. Tried for hours but to no avail. Emphasis. and started looking for options. Take it to a mechanic first, which would be quite expensive. During my research, I read about this reverse tap tool online and decided to give it a try the same day. Paid

Works great!: Metric Inserts and Kits

Last weekend I was bringing my Honda VTX 1300 out of winter storage and putting in new spark plugs when I discovered that the threads on one of the spark plug holes had been stripped and I was able to get the new fork screw in no more than 2 turns before it sticks. I wasn't sure what to do so naturally I went to YouTube University to see if anyone else had had this experience. I found a video posted by a man with the same problem using this tool to successfully fix his bike. I immediately went…

Saved me $$$! the best of the metric sockets and sets

This tool was worth the money I paid for it. It helped me get out of a jam when the spark plug threads in the head of our 2009 Grand Caravan failed and I couldn't put the spark plug back in. I loosened the tool, lubricated its threads with grease, pushed it all the way into the cylinder head, lifted the tool's shank and slowly pulled it out, changing direction a turn or so as it started to stick. I was patient and it paid off! I was able to cut and clean the threads to put the plug back into…

Good as a last resort in tools and gear

This is a good tool for the money. If your spark plug threads are rotten, you basically have three options: get a new head (rarely needed), drill and tap a head for a coil (probably the best option), or drill through the threads. If you can make sure you can use this tool to clean the piston and remove any deposits before installing the spark plug, it's a good, relatively quick, and inexpensive first option. If you only have half (or less) of the thread left, you can at least use this to attach

  • Great for me

It worked great - be sure to follow the instructions!

An ingenious remedy. Like many others, I screwed a spark plug into an aluminum motorcycle head. If the spark plug does not seem to go in smoothly, STOP. That's because you start crossing the threads over and the last thing you want to do is mess up ALL the threads! Tips for a successful thread repair: Lubricate the tap! After inserting the tap into the spark plug hole, lightly tighten the knurled tab at the top of the tool; maybe one turn is tight from totally loose. SLOWLY push the tap through

  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not the best

Did the job best in metric inserts and kits

I have a Dewalt washer with a Honda engine spark plug hole firmly recessed between the muffler, air cleaner and OHC valve cover. The valve cover is so high in relation to the spark plug angle that it is not possible to use a ratchet wrench to remove or tighten the spark plug. Nice Honda design! I ended up threading the spark plug hole as I didn't notice the problem when I first changed the spark plug. I heard about this tool on YouTube and read reviews on Revain. Mark S.'s review was…
