Powermaster 9603 Mastertorque Starter Review

Exceeds my 351 watt output in my '94 F150 which puts out about 380-400 hp. on wheels like nothing. I will recommend and buy again. Looks great there too.

. OMG what a pain in ARSH trying to install this without removing the headers. I had to buy a short wrench as it couldn't be used with either a regular wrench or a socket. Otherwise it works much better than out of the box, but something that normally takes 20-30 minutes to install shouldn't take 2-3 hours. Due to the constant adjustment of the plate, it took a long time before it fitted properly. The platen barely moved, so I'm hoping this starter will last, because I won't be touching that…

Very good quality. Customer service is excellent. The install isn't too big as the wire connections are connected to the oil pan so it's difficult to get wrenches to tighten the wires. It is highly recommended that a 30Amp automotive relay be used between the ignition switch and the starter motor. This prevents the ignition lock from being damaged by high current.

I was swapping out a Ford 302 for my 240Z day driver and the starter was very close to the block grabs I needed to run. Well, it lasted for several years, which is surprising, but certainly not forever. Starting became increasingly difficult, especially when it was still warm. This starter is smaller than the original and I could flip it to get the maximum clearance to the header pipes. Plus, it's a mighty little bug! Have been driving the car for a few months now with no problems.

Remanufactured starter motor problems eating away at the flexplate on my rebuilt Mustang 68 This starter solved all of my starting problems, starts clean and right away every time, a great relief. properly aligned out of the box as the starter housing was directly behind one of the screw holes so I had to rotate the plate. I didn't mind as I had to route it anyway, but if I didn't it would be cumbersome.
