Ideal for replacing an existing ball lock in a .

Ideal for replacing an existing ball catch on a cheap pantry door. Much better quality than what I replaced. The insert, which screws into the cylinder that you insert into the hole at the top of the door, is tapered at the top to prevent the ball from falling out completely under the action of the spring at the bottom. On the old one, that metal was very thin, and the bullet ended up flying when we opened the door. After bending it several times it finally broke and we bought this replacement.

Pros
  • Brass finish
Cons
  • So far so good

Good product for devices

This is a very good and functional item. I bought this to replace similar catches that were physically falling apart. As a replacement part, this product overlooks one aspect - the need to use shims to keep it at the perfect height. In my case, the installation of ball cages at the level of the door frame was too deep due to the previous installation of the door. I was able to manually raise the ball detent assemblies from 1/8" to 3/16" which helps a lot, but I'm afraid they will sink deeper in

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • No instructions

They work much better with a smarter sound

Ordered these to replace several that broke down after a few years. The originals were fitted by the interior door manufacturer and were fine, but after about a year they failed due to what I thought was a very strong spring in the ball joint. The ball became pitted and pierced the striker plate very significantly. They also made a loud click when opening/closing. I don't remember seeing black anodized so I bought these brass colors and installed them. only lightly marks the locking plate. My…

Pros
  • Used to keep swing doors closed with a hidden locking system
Cons
  • Does not fit all
