🔒 Pro Armor A040225 Ratcheting Y-Strap: Secure and Versatile (1.5", Black) Review

Easily fits a 40" tire. I'm using it for a 35 inch tire so there's plenty of belt left. The ratcheting system seems to be built pretty well, I would say this strap can take some abuse in the desert.

The thing is solid and quite durable. The ratchet is designed for heavy duty applications. The only problem I had was the hooks didn't match the tubes on my rack so I had to open it up a bit. They're very strong and it was a lot of work, but now they're passing and they're still very strong. This is a great article.

I used this to attach a 35 inch wheel and tire to a Land Cruiser roof rack. After 6 hours of trail crawling, the straps came loose from the mounts. I kept tightening the ratchet to take up the play, but eventually it came loose and had to be retooled. Handled well on the road, but hopping off-road was too much for them. .

I gave this tire 3 stars because it is well made and if it had worked it would have been 5 stars. However, the hooks are oddly shaped and don't snag on the bars of my rack or snag on the straps to attach properly. I have an EAG snout for the JKU, the rods go great with all of our other ratchet hooks. I have never seen such a hook shape. However, unfortunately I had to send it back.

This belt didn't convince. The 1-1/2" width is too narrow for a tire belt. The material is too soft. Not your typical hard webbing like a 4-point harness. The wire that goes into the ratchet is too short, causing the ratchet pushes into the tire. The buckles that hold the two main straps are very light and flimsy, although they work. This belt is just fine. It's inferior to most belts on the market. A little disappointed considering that this is a Pro Armor product.

Finding the best hook connection points is quite difficult. I wish they were a little bigger but they managed. So far, so good. The tire is heavier than stock and a little oversized, but this works great and keeps it secure. To have. It attaches directly to the roof rack, not the basket. I also have one of those bike cable locks that connect the rim directly to the basket, as a security measure but also in the worst case scenario of the straps breaking.
