Pinion Depth Setting Tool with Dial Indicator: Aluminum Stand, Red Anodized, Includes Adapters - Each Review

I got this to find the center line on the back of my Ford 10.5. Has very few instructions to use, I gave up and did it in a pattern. I would spend a little more money for a better one.

The instructions are copies of the original instructions and the copy is of poor quality. There are very few photos and we had to go to the website to get a clear idea of how to use this tool. Once we did that, it became uncomfortably unwieldy and almost entirely useless. I will never buy this product again and I do not recommend it

Meter doesn't even fit shrink ring. then tighten the lock nut. Only in this case it will not happen. Now that it's too tight and stuck, it broke the pressure gauge. If it just fits, I think it will work fine. your money

This tool was an absolute nightmare. I spend many hours tweaking and resetting it to get reproducible results but haven't been able to get any. The instructions are terrible and the dial gauge extensions weren't easy. If your gear isn't square with a machined bearing cap, good luck with the tool disc to get repeatable measurements across the top of the gear. For me and my application (Ford 8.8) it was useless.

Trying to use this thing was a nightmare. Trying to calibrate the dial took forever, and yet it wasn't very good. There were also instructions that were difficult to read and written in a way that you could understand. I went to YouTube, nothing helps there either. You ended up sending it back and spending more for one that actually allows you to understand the instructions and how to use it.

This product is a bit strange because it is universal. The idea behind it is solid. Setup time is much longer than specialized devices, but also much cheaper. The mechanical processing of the parts is quite pleasant. Tolerances are within 1/1000th of an inch and parts are well anodized. My only issue with the design is that one of the pointer extensions does not screw into the dial indicator. Also, the extensions don't run perfectly straight due to mating surface issues.
