Heat Deformation External Accessories

If you are not willing to do a lot of grinding on this item, do not buy it. When they welded a square tube onto a flat iron base, both parts warped. Without adequate grinding of the inside of the receiver tube, the 2" carrier tube would not slide into the receiver. I think the manufacturer doesn't understand the basics of welding.

product defect; $1,000 lost

Total product failure on the highway. It has a bike rack. I was driving 65 mph in western South Dakota and suddenly the bolt holes in the plate popped. All five bikes got stuck in a traffic jam under my RV, fortunately without damage. My bumper was fine, as you can see the clutch disc failed on this product. Lost $1,000 to broken bikes. DO NOT BUY A BOLT-ON RECEIVER. Instead, weld the hitch to the bumper. I hope this dear lesson will help you.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • So far so good

Camper + Coleman 200 Mini Bike

I bought this to mount my Coleman 200 mini bike on the back of my camper. Works great with no problems. Be careful when fitting this to your bumper as others have mentioned that I bent my bumper a bit. In hindsight, I probably would have put a pipe in that section or something, but it still works fine. Following the tightening instructions, bend the bumper so that it is slow to tighten as you move the 4 bolts. I think the problem came from front to back.

Perfect! for external accessories

My trailer's bumper was too close to the van so we welded the top to the back and used screws in the front and welded on the bottom panel for added protection. It would be great if my Sundance RV was made a little better. I'm pretty sure if something goes wrong it won't be part of the article. I expect my Heartland Sundance RV bumper to flex before this thing has even a remote problem. Very strong, well packaged with four bolts and nuts. It just got a lot easier!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Low repairability

First check your bumper.

This product itself is of excellent quality and should do what it offers. I am very happy. However, the lightweight 4-inch steel bumper you attach it to, which is often found on RVs, can be a disaster. Many of the lightweight bumpers (and welds) will rust over time and the bumper may crack. The lightweight bumpers I am talking about are not designed to support weight. Go to "You Tube" and find a video on this topic. Again, the product listed here is excellent. The bumper you attach it to may…

Great product, easy install

This is a great product for the money and very easy to install. I bought this for the back of our new 2018 motorhome as a bike rack. I also installed one of these on my previous camper although I welded it on and may decide to do the same with this one although it really isn't needed for a three bike mount. From the photos it looks like the recipient is touching the back of the camper, but it isn't. There is a gap of about 1/8 inch between the RV skin and the receiver. From the photos it looks…

Broke after 3 trips

We were so happy to find a towbar for our camper that will hold our bike rack we bought on Amazon (holds 5 bikes). We have two adult bikes, two 20" bikes for the boys and a 16" bike for our daughter. It was loaded, but the hitch weight did not exceed 200 pounds, with a maximum of 125 pounds. We've taken it on three hikes, which tied together and traveled a total of about 13 hours over three months, just travel time. On the way home from our third hike the clutch broke, one bike came loose and…
