No more difficult starts

Well designed genuine replacement as expected. The engine runs as quietly as when it was new and no longer drains the battery when starting.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Doubtful

Exact replacement for Mercury 3.0

Exact replacement for my 2008 Tahoe Q4 with Mercury 3.0. The boat was idling. Replaced distributor cap, spark plugs and wires. When it comes to new parts, things run like clockwork.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Good but not great

Fixed low power issue

See photos. That is an old hat. Corroded clamps. I had a low power issue with my 3.0 liter Mercruiser TKS at full throttle. 3000 rpm were not exceeded. Carburetor repair, fuel filter and new anti-siphon valve did not solve the problem. New spark plugs and a new distributor cap and rotor solved the problem.

Rotor too small for boating and sailing

Distributor cap fits well, looks solid. The rotor does not fit on the distributor shaft. I even tried lubricating with dielectric grease. As a result, it cracked and splintered. I simply reused the old rotor. Luckily the old one was in pretty good shape and was only a year old. The hat was the only thing I really needed. For the second time this year, Quicksilver parts have disappointed. They have always been reliable in the past. I don't know what happened, but I may use other parts in the…

Big difference in engine performance.

I replaced my old cover and rotor with these and it made a HUGE difference in performance to my 1995 Bayliner with a 3.0 liter Mercruiser engine. The old cover and rotor were very old and corroded. My max RPM at full throttle used to be around 3900, now I can accelerate to 4500 at full throttle. I was able to remove the old parts and replace them in about 10 minutes. It would have been less time, but my old rotor was rusty on the distributor shaft so I had to loosen it off the shaft a bit (I…
