Description of Quiltak SG_B003GWEWYE_US

The QuilTak tool has very few moving parts, and only requires a light squeeze on the handle for easy use. It has been tested for reliability beyond 2.2 million cycles and is lighter than other basting tools (3 oz.). The Taks are in a patented, connected design which eliminates tangling. They are the shortest on the market (keeps the layers of the quilt secure), the finest on the market (leaving less of a mark on the fabric) and of the finest quality. Item Package Weight: 0.75 pounds.

DAMAGED CEILING in Notions

I tried it on a small wall ceiling and it snagged (pulled and broke threads of the fabric) in several places on the ceiling. I also found it tedious to cut and remove the plastic pieces while quilting as I had to dig under the quilt to get the bottom half. It's much better to spray so it doesn't damage my comforter, and don't worry I'll damage my sewing machine or needle if I find a cut piece of plastic.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Long time

Making a quilt sandwich

First of all, I hate making a quilt sandwich. I love to sew and I love to quilt. But putting it all together is terrible. It works really well. You'll have to use a grid to avoid hitting the table, but it's easy and inexpensive. You buy an in-ceiling grill from Home Depot and it works great. I lay the back on a large table, add the batting and the top. I try to glue everything together as good and tight as possible and we slide the mesh under the base and start the blanket. This makes working…

Works but requires training

It's fast, easy and reliable. However, you need to make sure your plastic part goes all the way through or you'll be in trouble. If the little plastic ground is between the layers of your quilt, you'll have to handle it, so learn to be careful. Also removing it is not as easy as you might think. Take a small pair of blunt scissors and gently snip the other end with your hand to remove the plastic tip. You don't want to run a needle through it if it's stuck to the underside of your quilt. But…

Wonderful product and well made

Just used this for the first time. The needle broke right out of the box but luckily there was a replacement. I have also purchased white dachshunds here from Revain for insurance purposes. I found that there was little difference between the dachshunds. Even though they look exactly the same, it's weird I know. White dachshunds didn't always go through. The colored ones that came with the gun worked perfectly 99.9% of the time. So I came back here to order more of these but don't see any. I…

Best of its kind on the market and great for using in place of pins

I have bought several different types of the same item over the last 30 or 40 years and this is the one so far best. There are two other brands of this product, both well-known brands, one or both are sold by a large chain of fabric stores. This is only sold online. The other two have large dachshunds that can't fit through the car, and both species are constantly pinching each other. Their needles were of inferior quality and seemed to break constantly and were harder to find, if at all. The…
