Best Value Transmission Component

This thing took me about 6 months to complete. It went wrong. It's not the most durable thing in the world but for the price I ordered another replacement. Good value for money and gives my converted 1 x 9 speed MTB the range I need to do pretty much anything.

Pros
  • Rugged Finish
Cons
  • Small Parts

Works GREAT on TerraTrike

Like. It fits perfectly on my Terra Trike with 11-32 cassette while I added Wolf "Goat Link" components to move my SRAM LONG CAG x7 rear derailleur back and down. Then carefully adjust the angle of the switch side to side and back and forth.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Some issues

Good wide cassette, best in cycling

Replaced my 11-34 with this 11-40 for my 1x MTB. I ride in an area with lots of hills and steep solo descents. Works with my big SRAM x4 rear derailleur. The downside is that it has big gear changes, from 28 to 34 to 40. This makes low gear changes worse.

Fits perfectly and looks great!

A super cheap upgrade for my old full suspension. It made my 1x call very easy and accessible. I didn't have to lengthen my derailleur. I will say that 40 tons is probably the limit. My B screw is almost all the way in, but it moves up and down with no problem. I got a lot of praise for the higher shifters and I'm very happy with the end result.

Great product and very cheap!

Finally something more than a 36 tooth gearbox. Makes the 1x system a better climber. Fits X-4 Long Cage/Mount without B-screw adjustment, reversing, swapping and even lengthening the suspension! Holds your high gear and gives you a much lower low gear :) They also make it 11-40 in 8 speed ;) Hope this helps as I wasn't sure if this would fit my derailleur but it does fits, so thanks!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Now I can lug home eighteen cans of beer!

Good price, works great. For those interested, I was able to get this to work with a medium cage Tiagra derailleur and a b-bolt turned almost to the maximum on a Surly Cross check, with the axle turning about halfway was in the dropouts. For the price it was worth the risk and it worked perfectly. If you have doubts about whether it will work, give it a try - having bottom granny gear is definitely a huge benefit.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

It worked great with the switch's existing B screw - I didn't need that.

I swapped a Shimano 12-36 for this Sun Race 11-40. The bike has a Shimano Deore M591 long basket derailleur. It worked great with the existing B screw switch - I didn't need a longer one, I just had to screw that one in there. This cassette appears to be a little further in than the Shimano cassette it replaced. with this cassette the switch had to be adjusted. After the tuning I am very satisfied with the performance. Shifts well. Good range. Good price. The only thing wrong with this…

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Save your feet in the transmission components

Birchriver WV. 1230 feet. 6 miles later the top of Mount Powell. 2358 feet. This ascent had been on my wish list for a long time with several failed attempts. At 68, I quickly realized that the standard equipment I wanted to use just didn't work. I started with a cheap Specialized Rockhopper and over the course of a year swapped out all the components to build a bike I love. This cassette was the final piece in a complex puzzle. I ended up getting a great ride, befitting my abilities…
