Once it worked and now in the trash

We barely had time for our work when they broke. It's a good price (i.e. cheaper than what you'll find at Home Depot), but not without reason. We've used it to run speaker wire about 60 feet long and it worked fine initially. But if you have multiple moves, you will be in trouble. It becomes very difficult to turn around until our handle is broken (making it useless). Luckily we bought it for this one job and got it done, but now it's in the trash.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Expensive

Some products require you to use common sense

Broken handle arrived. The unlock button didn't work. This may have happened during transport; The packaging wasn't the best for this type of product, but the product is the best, especially for running cables or Cat 4-9 Ethernet wiring between walls. Hopefully one day they can add a camera and light like they do with certain medical procedures or surgeries. They have this for eardrum wax removal for $14.

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Works well and the price is good.

Works very well. The price was reasonable for 100ft so I went with the longer size should I need one in the future. I managed to run an ethernet cable through an existing smurf pipe that for some reason had two 90 degree bends. Haven't used it for other work yet but I plan to run more cables and will let you know if I find any problems. It's quite oily, so wear gloves when handling it.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Brief instructions

Very cheap and poor customer service

The plastic handle is very cheap, it broke after only a few uses. Email sent to seller for assistance. They replied that there was nothing they could do since it was Revane and they had no information about the command, which was utter nonsense. Even if the item is shipped via Amazon, the seller must be responsible for warranty and support. I can't return as it's been over 1 month now. Don't buy, there are better alternatives for this price.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No instructions

Reasonable price

I'm a do-it-yourselfer and needed to run 92 feet of 7-wire cable with no connectors for my irrigation manifold. I've only needed fish tape twice in my DIY projects and didn't want to spend a lot of money on one, and most 100ft tapes are way more expensive than I wanted to spend. This band fits exactly what I wanted. If I were an electrician or someone who draws a lot I would avoid this tape as the case is a little flimsy for repeated or daily use.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

But it works. in Cable Insertion and Extraction Tools

I needed fishing tape to run a 220v wire through a 1/2 inch pipe. The first problem was that all the oil covered the item. You get lube from HF everywhere) this makes the reel very difficult to hold. You definitely need gloves. Also the reel doesn't have a working lock so when you need to install it all the tension is unwound. I see it as a solid 3-4 good uses but in the end you get what you pay for. It got the job done with quite a bit of effort, but if I ever need another I'll invest aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Only available in black

Problems rotating 90 degrees.

I needed to run 12 gauge wire under my driveway for landscape lighting. The barrel was about 65 feet long and had a 90 degree turn. This fish tape had great trouble passing the knee at a 90 degree angle. The PVC pipe was 2 inches in diameter. The elbow was about 3 feet from the end of the barrel. I tried to enter both ends but still couldn't get through the elbow. I ended up cutting off the hook end of the fishing line but still no luck. Finally I pulled out the pipe (the part not under theโ€ฆ

Good enough for a weekend warrior

So we're all looking for a project to do while in crouch and hide mode. I wanted to use Category 6 cable as the return path for my wireless mesh network, whatever that was. As a completely unskilled amateur, I was very nervous trying to find a passageway between my main level and the basement. I measured eleven times seven and took a picture. After I cut out the drywall I still couldn't see anything because of the insulation. However, I managed to glue this fish tape in the basement. IT WORKSโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • The list goes on.
