Description of RS999266 Rancho RS9000XL Shock Absorber

NINE LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE -- Nine-position easy-to-adjust knob allows customized damping control and firmness for on-road and off-road flexibility. DESIGNED FOR HARDWORKING VEHICLES -- Ideal for stock or lifted trucks, SUVs and Jeeps that tow, haul or go off road. INDUSTRY FIRST -- Recognized as the first nine-position manually adjustable shock series in the off-road market. REDUCES FADE -- Nitrogen gas pressurized to 120 PSI to minimize air-to-oil mixture and reduce damping performance fade and foaming. STRONG AND DURABLE -- Features an application-specific 18mm nitro-carburized piston rod to resist scuffs and corrosion, double-welded loops at stress areas and 1.25-in. sintered iron piston for enhanced structural integrity. HANDLES EXTREME TEMPERATURE CHANGES -- Up to 2.75-in. tri-tube body (application specific) filled with all-weather fluid allows for cooler operation, increased vehicle control and ability to withstand internal temperatures of -40 to 248°F. SMOOTH PERFORMANCE -- Polyurethane rebound bumper and bushings and graphite-filled fluon-banded piston help absorb ride harshness and enhance responsiveness to changing road conditions for an overall smoother ride. BUILT TO LAST -- Low-friction, self-lubricating seal retains gas and oil for quicker rebound and smoother compression while the long-lasting premium liquid metallic finish and polyvinyl protective boot ensures long life.

Perfect fit for Ford Excursion.

Installed on a 2005 Ford Excursion diesel engine 4 wheel drive which made a significant difference to the ride and handling.

Pros
  • Brilliantly Made
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish

The overall view looked fine, but after a sharp jump in speed.

The installation instructions were not very clear and no matter what settings I had they were very clear on my 2005 Ford Excursion. Overall the exterior looked good, but after a hard impact on a speed bump, my front right shock ruptured and all the fluid spilled into the driveway. I ended up replacing my leaf springs and installing Bilstein 5100 shocks for the 4" lift.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Blank

Works great so far.

I have all four on tour. It's nice to set it hard for towing and then relax it for passenger traffic. I recommend removing the regulators and lubricating them before use. I've read that this prevents them from getting stuck. The rear lower shock body is too big for the shock mounts on Tour and it took a bit of love from the grinder to clean them out. It would probably clear itself, but I don't want any noise. Hoping they last a while.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Money box Price

In heavy vehicles, they wear out quickly and control valves stick.

I fitted the first set to my 2003 Ford Excursion (4x4, V10) in 2014, both front and rear. The front damper adjuster valves got stuck in our northern climate for a number of years, probably from road salt, and within four years and 39,000 miles they had to be replaced. The rear wheels have done five years and 47,000 miles and the valves have frozen just like the front wheels. I applied for a rear warranty from Rancho and got new shocks through Revain. It's been about four and a half years and…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • No form required

Pros
  • NINE LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE -- Easy-to-adjust nine-position handlebars allow you to dial in damping and stiffness for flexibility on and off-road

Pros
  • BUILT FOR DURABILITY – Low-friction, self-lubricating seal keeps gas and oil out for faster rebound and smoother compression, while a high-quality, durable liquid metal coating and polyvinyl skid plate ensure long-lasting durability.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
