dry smooth pine board 2x8 does not fit in the notch intended for the end of the board. Board spacing of about eight inches or so is too narrow. I cut the end of the 2x8 at an angle to fit the space. Will work. But I had to adjust, trimming the ends of the boards to fit in size.

My 2x8 boards were slightly thinner than the ramp ends, but that's not a product issue. Also, my 2x8s were too thick to fit the edge of the ramp ends, so I notched the ends of the boards (and cut the top of the board at an angle) to fit the ends of the ramp. Use them to drive a lawn mower onto a 4X4 Super Duty Truck. They work well and are easy to install with the included hardware. I like the pins that you can use to drill holes in the tailgate if you want. I did with my old 2006 truck. My son found a way to use ratchet straps to keep his ramps from exiting the tailgate when loading heavy 1500 pieces side by side. Adding a ramp set to a 2 x 12 treated lumber with included nuts and bolts was a simple application with a drill and a wrench in our case. Unfortunately these ramp ends do not fit the 2 x 12 end of the board the way they should. They are not wide enough to fit on the board. The nominal thickness of a 2 x 12 plate is 1 1/2 inches. However, the opening at these ends of the ramp is only 1 3/8 inches. So they're useless unless I cut 1/8 inch off the board, which I didn't have to.
