Short Haul Tractor - Tow & Winch Products

High quality can't be matched at this price point. If you pull often and for a long time, I would go for the Big Boys clutch. It should be fine for short trips. Be prepared to be good with tools. Also, you must have some mechanical feel. Safety first.

Great for my needs

Does what I expected for the price. I have now used it for several hundred kilometers and have had no problems. And depending on what you're towing, it wouldn't hurt to make sure your towing car needs a front bracket kit. I myself just took off the front bumper, screwed it directly to the ends of the frame and hit the highway. And it never hurts to stop from time to time and check the tightness of the screw connections.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Not the best

Reese Towpower 7014200 Adjustable Towbar is one of my best purchases

Great product no matter the price. There's no reason in the world to spend $400 or $500 on a hitch. Be sure to buy 2 sets of chain or cable to complete the hitch security system. Also be aware of the electrical connections you will need to make, but make sure the vehicle you intend to tow can be towed before you buy. Check your vehicle's owner's manual.

Good trailer for this price.

Reading the ad, you might think that the length can be adjusted a bit with the multiple mounting holes shown in the photos. This tow hook must be assembled as shown in the instructions included with the kit. It works great as intended. For users who have a "trailer post" like my RV, the studs protruding from the center of the arms are a bit awkward when inserting the folded rod into the camp post's leaves. I couldn't find any torque specifications in the instructions, but it should be screwed…

Looks good but weak!

I bought this because I trust the Reese name and their products. However, we hooked up our truck and took a test drive around the block, and I'm glad we did. When assembling the hitch, I tightened everything down to the smallest detail. A rod was bent and the adjustment screws would not hold the adjustment even when tightened. I've since taken the rod to a welding and fabrication shop. You will straighten the bent rod and then double the rods and weld them in place and add a cross brace for…

Robust and compact. Excellent price.

I have assembled this hitch but have not used it so keep that in mind. I will be using it to tow a Jeep Patriot behind my 40ft RV on its maiden voyage next spring. I installed a heavy-duty Blue-Ox hitch mount on the Patriot front frame. Anyway, I like the idea that this hitch can be broken down into smaller pieces for storage. It also seems solid enough, although there is a little play when the two parts of each arm are attached to each other no matter how tight you tighten the screws there…

Will get the job done with a little tweaking.

I used this hitch to tow a YJ Jeep (4200 lbs) from Pecos, NM to Wichita Falls, TX (just under 500 miles), we stopped regularly to check everything. Around the 300 mile mark I noticed a slight deflection on the driver's side, but I think it was due to the sharp turn to get to the gas station. As for the prep work I went ahead and bought the lock washers along with the red Loctite, having read that some had had trouble loosening some of the nuts and bolts I had no problem with that at all. If I…

Towed my Jeep Cherokee 1400 miles

I used this hitch to tow my Jeep Cherokee 1400 miles. It worked, but it's not perfect. A few facts about it: 1. This is a universal mount, so you need to make some mounts or extra supports. You may need to drill some holes in your car to attach the mounting brackets. I had to spend nearly $50 on steel to reinforce the frame at the mount joints. The instructions call for 1/2"x2" steel to reinforce the attachment point.2. I don't like three-component hands. I'm sure Reese does this to keep the…
