Description of High-Performance Remflex 1001 Exhaust Gasket Set for AMC V8 Engine (Pack of 2)

Matches the Stock Cylinder Head Port; AMC V8 - 304('70-'79), 360('70-'93), 390('70), 401('71-'76), Dog Leg Stock Port, Manifold or Headers, 2/Set. Heating and cooling of the exhaust system causes header and manifold flanges to warp resulting in gaps between the head and header which Remflex exhaust gaskets seal completely due to the thickness and compressibility of the 100 percent flexible graphite. Remflex exhaust gaskets come in a standard 1/8 inch thickness and are designed to crush 50 percent allowing them to fill any pits or gaps in the flange surface up to 1/16 inch. The aluminum cylinder head and steel header or manifold combination are configurations that readily cause gap issues in the mating flanges due to contraction and expansion of the dissimilar materials; Remflex exhaust gaskets fill those gaps permanently. There are no rubber binders or composite materials in Remflex exhaust gaskets so they will not shrink or harden due to time or temperature eliminating the need to go back and continually retighten your flange bolts.

Worth the money - replacement parts

Great product. The flexibility of the gasket makes it easier to seal the manifolds. This is the only thing that got my Hedman headers sticking to my 304.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

100% Recommend Replacement Parts

Perfect fit for my Jeep AMC 360. I have tried another brand and it failed miserably. Tried this one and it fixed the exhaust leak like a charm 😊

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Disappears

Expensive for a disposable pad.

Rated 3 stars. If I could use them more than once they would get 5 stars. They seal well but are very brittle and can crack and fall apart if you are not careful during installation. The gasket will stick to the manifold in some places and cannot be reused.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Worked on one side. Not worth the money

Took only 30 minutes before a port burned out completely. New manifolds, clean finish. I tightened it less than I thought it would last as the packaging says. On the one hand everything is fine, on the other hand it leaked from the start. So after a few minutes of work I followed suit. Still in flow. It gradually got worse.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Expensive

Solved my exhaust leak

After 4 different manifold gaskets, felt pro, Hedman twice and I don't remember any other brand, everything leaked in 2-3 months. I put them on after a few heat cycles and they were still having issues. I ended up going to the local speed shop instead of the national chains and online shops. They recommended them but they weren't available for my AMC block. They said if that doesn't solve your problem then your headers are deformed or there are burrs on the headers. Fortunately, the problem has

Securely locked for the first time in 10 years!

Simple! It costs money to finally seal my 1976 CJ7 304 with Headman Fender exhaust manifolds. I've tried two or three shims with the right amount of torque after a few heat cycles in the past. They end up blowing up all my center ports on both sides, the new headers too. (cheap though) Installed them in about 30 minutes with no prep at all as my old gaskets came off so well - no leaks first time as far as I can remember. Let's see if they get kicked out in the end, time will tell. I'm sure…

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Expensive

I had some exhaust manifold leaks on the heads when using OEM gaskets. I've heard from several gearbox colleagues that REMFLEX is doing great things. I bought manifolds and manifold gaskets, removed the old gaskets, cleaned all mating surfaces on the manifolds and heads, installed a new gasket and tightened the bolts to standard. The best thing about these gaskets is that they are made of graphite and once tightened will not shrink due to engine heat cycles. They compress by torque and actually

These pads are AWESOME!

I've got really crappy headers and I've been blowing out gaskets like crazy. So disappointing. A friend recommended her and I never went back. You install them, tighten the screws and you're done! You can tighten the screws if you want, but they NEVER move. I've put about 20,000 miles on my 401 with these pads and never had an accident. They also fit perfectly on the original AMC connector with a crease so you can adapt the connector to them, unlike other manifold gaskets which are slightly…
