The walkie-talkies have not been used much but so far they work perfectly. Very happy with the battery life. I found the instruction manual difficult for a non-ham radio operator and was curious how I might get hold of an automatic radio charger. Contacted support who said the charger is currently unavailable in the US. The speed of customer support responses was excellent. Possibly the best customer support I have ever received. Very happy with the radios so far and were it not for theโ€ฆ

Great walkie talkie but different firmware versions cause problems

I bought 4 of these walkie talkies to get around rough terrain. They work great and have many of the features that more expensive radios have. I used the CHIRP software to program all the radios with the same settings. Using CHIRP was a bit confusing at first, but there are great videos online that can help. The only problem I have with this is that one of the radios has different firmware than the others and I haven't found a way to update the firmware. This issue caused software problems when

Amazing Walkie Talkie

We've always used Motorola, Cobra and Uniden Wally walkie-talkies for camping, hiking and mountain biking. However, there have always been issues with reception, clarity and people can listen even with privacy codes (blocks people talking to you but they can still listen). So we decided to try RT5. IMPRESSIVE! We were very impressed with the battery life, range in and out of town, and sound quality compared to other devices. Additional features like dual-band mode, the ability to connect toโ€ฆ

Fantastic sound quality and long battery life.

Excellent value for money. The sound quality is crisp and clear, in contrast to the muffled voices found on most radios. Use them and truck mounted radios to communicate with other tow trucks in public areas or on the highway. ideal for communication when looking for a car in the parking lot of a large shopping center or looking for a car on the street for which the customer did not provide you with a suitable place. Will go quite far in open areas but is limited to less than a mile in denseโ€ฆ

Choose the trash!

One of the best radios at an affordable price. The seller went out of their way to ensure I had access to all accessories including a car battery rectifier and longer rubber ducky antennas. Single wagons from Colorado to Illinois. We have a GMRS license. We were able to use triple the power level set at 5W. Although we were 3-5 miles apart on the same freeway and often lost touch, we never lost touch. Our radios were programmed to FRS/GMRS/MURS simplex and all NOAA weather frequencies usingโ€ฆ

  • Great for outdoor activities

  • Has some flaws

Bought these walkie talkies for our RV from Arizona to Yellowstone National Park. These are great long range walkie talkies. With high transmit power (7-8 watts) we had 2 to 3 miles net range in mountainous terrain. Much better than Motorola's walkie-talkies that advertise 36 miles of range at 3 watts. The reality is that even with 7 watts of power, you're lucky if you can get a 5-6 mile range. Motorola should shut down with these ridiculous range claims! The Retevis RT5 is a well-builtโ€ฆ

IT'S WORTH IT!: Radios

I bought this set of Retevis RT5 (8W) radios with included programming cable to replace my 'blister packs' of GMRS radios. WOW! What a BIG difference! These radios are AMAZING! I had the opportunity to test them today. Drive 6 miles in and out of town. IN THE REAL WORLD, no kidding, 6 miles! This is a successful transmission and reception. I currently hold an FCC GMRS license (and will be testing my ham radio license soon) so for now I have only been able to test the GMRS and MURS capabilities.
