I bought these this year and thought $40 was a bit of a bargain. i still feel it But I didn't want my bike racks or my bike to be stolen. So a worthwhile investment. In fact, Rock Mounts should include these locks with the purchase of their racks, but they are too greedy to do so. So you have to buy your own set for $40. The first set I ordered came right out of the box. The latch stayed compressed so the core fell out every time I unlatched it. I took it apart and adjusted the spring a bit and then reinstalled the core and all is good now. Also, sometimes one of the keys gets stuck and I have to wiggle it a bit to get it out. the second key doesn't, and neither does the first set I have. Overall I would say it deserves 4 stars for the price and quality.

Matches perfectly with our Thule AeroBlade Edge handlebar. I can't judge how they tolerate the weather, since we haven't had them for so long. Although it doesn't matter. Even if I had to replace the whole set once, I would still save money by buying them direct from Thule. I'm inclined to think this is the EXACT same lock provider that Thule uses. These lock cylinders went in so easily I thought a) I had done something wrong, b) the lock inserts in the rack (bought used from a colleague) were worn/damaged or c) they could not deter thieves in any way. I bought this set of lock cylinders because other reviewers have stated that they are the same cylinders sold under the Thule brand . Upon receipt I compared them to the cylinders on my existing Thule stand and found them to be true. I'm sure they are all from the same manufacturer.
