Cheap case stitching

I had high hopes for this product but they were not met. The firmware on it is cheap and therefore, once put on, at the first gust of wind I blew back the door and pierced the firmware at the very first hole for it. I thought, okay, one thing isn't so bad, I'll leave it on. Well, the next time it was a little windy, the nearest hole in the lock ripped the stitching and the door flew onto the driver's side panel. Thank goodness I didn't have a car parked next to me, but I'm not at all happy with

  • This is amazing

basic need. - Spares

This strap may not look like much but if you lose it or (in my case) break it you will need it. The doors of our '06 Wrangler opened completely without them. They are relatively easy to install. It was easier for me to attach to the door part. A few screws had to be loosened, but it was relatively easy. Doors don't open anymore! It's very durable and I like that it can be adjusted if needed. I set the penultimate option that allows the door to exit 90 degrees. I highly recommend this product.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • unreliable

One is torn but still good. one to go.

After about 10 normal openings of the passenger door in service, the 11th opening resulted in a sudden breakage of the stitching from the middle position to full opening. Opening the door wasn't exactly smooth back then, but that's why we have it in place, right? I decided to turn the strap around and reuse it as the location of the torn seams allowed it. I'll see how it goes and I still have the second, unused strap of the pair just in case. All in all, the early break went quicker and easierโ€ฆ

Worked for a while but stitching failed

My original straps frayed through the webbing so I replaced them with these. The band is much thinner than the factory design, but the webbing didn't disappoint. The aftermarket straps all seem to be about an inch longer, so if the seams aren't sewn together, the door swings too far and hits the front of the Wrangler. (Excess stretch may be due to the thinner webbing.) They lasted about 2 1/2 years, which isn't bad for the price, but they failed the first time they were subjected to heavy useโ€ฆ

  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Save your money - spare parts

I was depressed by the poor quality of the straps even before I installed them. It's thin and not what I expected from something that absorbs the torque the doors put on the belts. The tacks on the straps are NOT tacks, but a simple zigzag stitch pattern. I've dabbled with webbing and nylon/spectrum all my life, I've seen thousands of rivets. To be honest, I knew they wouldn't work even before I installed them. But for $6, the return wasn't worth the hassle. So I installed them late at nightโ€ฆ

  • All right!
Cons
  • Not bad

Normal solution but limited lifespan

Reasonable replacement for the original door strap with the limitation below. Fits 2004 Wrangler Rubicon. The door opening angle is adjusted by selecting the appropriate slot in the webbing for attachment to the vehicle frame. Wide detail settings. The price went from $4.98/pair to $8.98/pair in 6 months. Caveat - the apparent quality of the base material. The first band installed on the driver's door lasted less than 8 months (installed January 2015, unsuccessfully installed August 2015). Theโ€ฆ

The fit is good, but don't go too far with them

EDIT: After wearing them for just a few months, the stitching between the three sections came undone, reducing the usefulness of this product compared to just OEM kills do-it-yourself belts without repair. My wife certainly doesn't aggressively open the door of her TJ, and doesn't visit places where she would have to park on a slope to let the weight of the door pull the strap. Two stars for still working like a belt, albeit a long one. one. You should spice up the design of it if it can'tโ€ฆ
