Great product, improved performance and usability of my laptop

Works as advertised. Bought to work with my Asus UX501VW. Specifically, to use a hardwired 1GB Ethernet connection. The laptop came with a 100MUSB Ethernet adapter. A good increase in network speed. An added bonus I wasn't prepared for: I connected an external 4k display directly to the laptop's HDMI port. I got a 30Hz refresh. When I connected the display to the docking station, it jumped to 60Hz! To be honest 5 stars based on my purchase price I got a good deal.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed

Faulty unit

I have two problems, I received the dock today and plugged it in for the first time and the green light is on but the blue light is not on. Because the blue light doesn't come on, none of the other ports on the dock work, and I can't use the secondary display or USB speakers. Second, when I connect Document Power to my 2018 13" MacBook, I get the "Cannot use Thunderbolt accessory" popup. So now I have a dock that serves no purpose and does not provide the functionality I need. I have contacted…

Very productive, everything works

I honestly bought this model because I got caught in a day sale. Regardless, I'm not disappointed. I connected two HD monitors which together with the screen of my Macbook Pro gives me a total of 3 monitors. No lag or video tearing that I've seen with other types of docks (like the Displaylink dock that was replaced with a few glitches). Also for Mojave users - no drivers needed! What needs improvement: • The USB-C cable connecting to a computer is very short (see photo). I will be buying a…

UPDATE - Downgraded from 5 stars to 3 stars - Windows Tower without Thunderbolt 3: I just moved this home from my office to use on my Windows Tower and it completely fails. I can't get the blue light flashing, which means no data is getting through, so this thing is basically useless. It uses USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C. It's the best among Thunderbolt 3 and it just doesn't transfer data over it. It's the only dock I've ever had that isn't backwards compatible - I'm not even asking for a display, just

High quality and works as advertised

The product provides the connectors I need and works as expected. I love that I can use it to charge my phone and connect a monitor. I've read that some USB-C docking stations can't wake up a sleeping computer (if you only have wired keyboards/mice) or sleeping monitors, but this one works for me. Not sure what it's made of - it's lightweight, feels sturdy, and the connectors fit snugly. If I could change anything about this product, I would add a few more USB-C ports. Although I don't need…

Six months have passed. I just stopped charging my mac

I liked this thing because it was too good to be true. Not many of them actually charge your car by expanding the port's capacity. But I was willing to pay for it. And honestly, I blame Apple for buying this thing. But for $229, I expect it to work as advertised. It charged my Mac up until a few days ago. I've tried all ports on both the mac and the dock and the mac says it's charging but won't charge. My battery is empty when I plug it in! Carefully. Everything is fine at first, but charging…

HDMI output intermittent at best

My device is connected to a 2018 Macbook Pro. I'm trying to use the HDMI output to drive an Acer 4K monitor. "Try it out” is the keyword here. Even though my laptop recognizes that it's connected to a 4K monitor, the actual video output to the monitor works intermittently. (Although in reality it's 60Hz as advertised.) It usually requires plugging and plugging cables to make it work, until I get lucky. Still, it rarely works. I have tried multiple cables between the device, laptop and monitor…

Works while it works

Easy to set up and use, worked great for almost 10 months and seems to have been discontinued completely a few days ago. It must be ok as I just bought another one that works fine too. Hope this one lasts longer. Initially I suspected a power supply failure based on the clicking sound when the unit was plugged in, but there were no lights or other signs of life on the old unit and any power supply will work with a new, freshly purchased unit. I use a 4K monitor at home most of the time except…
