These are G adapters, NOT N adapters

These adapters only connect at 54 Mbps, which is the data rate of Wireless G. If they were Wireless N, they would connect at 150 Mbps. Unfortunately I didn't read all the reviews of this adapter before purchasing it as some other buyers reported an issue with 54Mbps/G data rates and not N. To be honest the adapters are fairly easy to install and all work well, but they are definitely NOT N adapters as advertised. Build quality is good, signal strength between the adapters and my new Medialink…

Mileage varies by seller

First of all, yes. This is a cheap product made in China (not all Chinese products are cheap) and you should know that. But the main problem is that depending on who your seller is, you may receive the goods in both the picture and the other. They are all WiFi adapters with antennas and higher gain than usual, which will surely improve your WiFi performance, but the actual key may be very different from what is shown in the picture. To test this I ordered two identical ones from different…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Difficult to say

I had trouble installing on Vista initially. After 3 hours of brainstorming, I luckily found a post on the internet that addresses this issue. The Zonealarm firewall is to blame. Even if you turn it off, this adapter will not work. You must completely remove the zonealarm firewall if you have one. After removing the adapter, it worked perfectly right away. Later I installed the PCtools Firewall and there were no problems. In terms of performance, this adapter is really great. It detected more…

Great product, easy installation and unbeatable price!

I was looking for a smart way to make my 2 desktops wireless. After several searches on various websites, reviews, etc., I found this to be the cheapest option with the best reviews. I received them in the mail within 2 days and they were great. I had no problems installing software etc. Based on a previous review on winxp I followed their advice. I'm sure you wouldn't mind if I post this to help you. And I want to thank them for posting: They quoted: This is a great product. Realtek has long…

Powerbook went from no signal to great quality

I originally wanted to buy a 500mw flat antenna GSKY WiFi adapter that I bought earlier as a gift for someone who was having connectivity issues and it worked. Excellent. Then I saw this one for just under $12 and decided to try it on our old Mac Titanium Powerbook G4 that came with the original airport card that didn't seem to work. It was unstable even next to the router, and it didn't work at all in the bedroom, which was separated from the router by several concrete walls. By installing…

The only downside is the form factor

As far as wireless adapters go, this one seems to be able to work and stay connected to every network I've tried. It's reliable and range is generally acceptable. I've noticed that placing it at the back versus the front of the tower sometimes made a significant difference in signal strength, so it's possible that it's sensitive to shielding and/or interference from the hull itself and the surrounding area. It received a very weak signal when connected via the 3ft USB extension cable, so make…

Cheap, flimsy, but works.

So last year I was looking for one of these wireless USB devices and reading reviews about it was nothing but bug stories. No matter what company I've looked at and no matter the price, they always have negative reviews that sound like they were just unlucky, and I don't like betting on expensive electronics. I needed one badly so thought I'd go with the cheap one as the reviews were good I figured it would at least work until I found a better solution. Well, that was last September (2010). )…
