Description of Schwinn Koen Boys SmartStart Wheels

NOTE: The pedals are included in their own cardboard box inside the carton. This Schwinn Koen boy's bike with 14-inch wheels is designed for children 3 - 4 years old or 36 - 40 inches tall. The Koen is perfect for riding to the park or riding on the sidewalk around the neighborhood. With Schwinn's SmartStart Technology, this bike is designed just for kids: lighter frame, cranks and pedals are positioned forward, gearing designed for easier starting, narrower pedal positions, and smaller grips and seat. Designed with younger riders in mind, this bike includes a rear coaster brake (reverse the pedals to stop) and a front caliper brake (hand-brake like adult bikes); easing the transition to a hand-brake-only bike when they’re ready. The adjustable saddle, seat post, and slack seat-tube angle make for easy, tool-free adjustments to allow the Schwinn Koen boy's bike to grow with your child and prepare them for a full-sized bicycle. The Schwinn Koen boy's bike with 14-inch wheels comes ready to be assembled and includes the following: training wheels, saddle handle, chainguard, and number plate.

Great kids bike! on children's bikes

We bought this 16" bike for our son who has outgrown his kids bike. It was very easy to assemble. This is a very strong, quality bike. 3 but with with the seat down and the steering wheel adjusted, he can ride it comfortably. He loves it very much and wants to ride it all the time!

Nice bike in Children's Bikes

The license plate looked cheap and crumpled so I took it off. Pretty easy assembly. For some reason I was under the impression that the 18-inch training wheels don't come with a kickstand, but it does. I bought my 4 year old an 18" for his 5th birthday. He is quite tall, 44 1/2" so I thought 18" would be a good size for him. The bike is smaller than I expected but he will be able to drive it comfortably.I hope this will bring my son a lot of joy for years to come.

Great bikes for little kids

Our son has special needs and is struggling to learn to ride a bike. We did some research and came across this bike. As soon as I picked it up, our son was speeding down the street. This made him safer to ride and pedal. The design of the bike makes it easier to pedal and maintain balance. He even puts the handbrake on. As a parent of a special needs son, seeing him ride his bike with the other kids in the neighborhood was the best part!

Sucked - very disappointed

To be honest, I've been thinking about a bike for my boy for weeks. I chose Schwinn because the chain was fully covered and it has both rear pedal brakes and handbrakes. It is designed for a 28" child (my boy is 34") and has a comfortable seat. I was disappointed because it was too heavy, my boy is 30lbs and the bike is over 20lbs - too heavy for him. The seat is average - nothing outstanding, but most importantly the chain was so tight that it was difficult even for me to pedal, let alone my…

Potentially dangerous. Not recommended. Not sure.

I bought this bike for my son in June and initially he really liked it. It's been four months now and the brakes don't work anymore. Luckily my son found the broken brakes in the driveway and not on the street as that would have been very dangerous. I figured that by buying Schwinn instead of one of the cheaper brands I would be getting a quality product but that doesn't seem to be the case. When buying a bike for a child, safety is the number one concern and this bike falls short. It is…

Do not buy this bike and don't let the overall rating fool you.

Bought this bike recently and it broke after a few days. The overall construction is solid, but who cares if the moving parts/connections are so flimsy they won't survive even a few weeks of use by a child. Very disappointed as this is one of the expensive bikes available. My kid was so happy about it. All I remember about this bike is the time I spent putting it together and then taking it apart. It did neither me nor my child any favors for the effort and money we put into it. I may have been

It would be 4 stars if Schwinn/China had better assembly quality control.

I have to say the bike is very nice and well packaged. It comes partially assembled but everything Schwinn/China assembled needs to be redone for the bike to earn 4 stars. The rear wheel bolts were too tight and the chain was too tight, making the rear wheel difficult to turn. The crank adjustment has been set so tight that the pedals are difficult to turn, leading to premature bearing damage and child fatigue. With the right setting, everything turns easily and smoothly, and the child rides…

Perfect proportions

I bought the red version from Revain's warehouse (like new). The box was opened earlier, but the bike was not previously assembled. The license plate was missing a screw and the sticker on the front was scratched and torn. never mind The bike was easy to assemble, but a few things needed to be adjusted. The steering column felt nicked so I loosened the top nut a half turn and that solved the problem. The chain and rear wheel (pre-assembled) were also very tight, but I was able to loosen them up

18 " Great bike for my 5 year old!

We've been in the trenches with the first two kids and bought used and cheap bikes. But for the third kid it's just the best ! ; ) He started out on the Strider and then a RoyalBaby brand 14" bike (LOVE this Strider balance/transition bike at 3 years old!) He's 5 now and needs something bigger and it's been a debate between the larger RoyalBaby or this Schwinn. I read the reviews of both and decided to take a chance. Only used two days but so far so good. Husband put it together but it was very

Part missing, ongoing problems with this bike - avoid!

I bought this bike for my 6 year old little boy after he outgrew his first bike, a 14 inch Specialized that we bought at a local bike shop. I really regret my purchase decision and wish we had spent a little more on a better bike. So there are a lot of issues with this bike. Firstly the instructions are not very good and seem to be intended for a range of bikes. not for the purpose - made for Koen. I haven't built too many bikes so I felt a bit unprepared to build Koen given the rather poor…
