These sanding drums don't sand very well - they stick in the drill but remove very little material before they start to break.

I used this to increase the inside diameter of a bronze bushing a few thousandths of an inch and it worked like a charm. I have no doubt that no other tool would work as well.

I use this to try to remove old paint from metal but it didn't work the way I wanted it to. I use an 80 grit flat disc on my grinder and it did the job but I couldn't get into some of the bottlenecks. Maybe I used it for something it wasn't meant for, I don't know.

I mainly use them on steel/stainless steel pipes for welding preparation and grinding internal welds. If you're used to shaping discs for an angle grinder, they're a lot less aggressive. I am currently using 60 grit abrasives and would like them to be more aggressive for grinding welds. They are inexpensive and last a long time.

EDIT 8th June 2019: 5 stars - Second time ordering. They are great for refinishing, but wear out very quickly when removing mill scale. If you're using them to remove mill scale, I'd recommend using 40 grit sandpaper first and then quickly touching it up with this 80 grit sandpaper. May 31, 2019: 5 stars. They are amazing. Wheels are made as described. Well done. My problem is that the individual sanding pads are very hard. This means that you have to press the spinning wheel very firmly against the wood to be sanded. Otherwise, the petals won't bend far enough to expose the sandy side of each sandpaper petal doing the sanding process. And some projects are too fragile to withstand the force it takes to get the job done. Flaps must be longer and/or shorter than them. How they act on metal I can't say.
