It works but not in tight spaces

This tool does the job at least, but since everything has to pivot around a pipe it doesn't work well in tight spaces and because of the stepped design it doesn't work well against walls to replace the corner stops. I ended up buying two more and cutting them into pairs so they could be used in tighter spaces. Another problem with this tool is that it doesn't clean the inside of the pipe. If you use the plastic inserts that come with some connectors it doesn't matter, but if you don't use them…

Pros
  • INSTALLS IN ONE SECOND: SharkBite fittings require no special tools, soldering, crimping or gluing. Simply squeeze to create a watertight seal
Cons
  • Pleated

Good depth gauge, bad deburring tool

As a guide for marking pipe depth this tool works well, just insert the end of the pipe and mark the correct depth. It is easy to ensure the pipe is fully inserted into the SharkBiite fitting, the pipe will only go a hair's breadth into the ground from the marked depth. This tool is only suitable for deburring pipes. It works decently on PEX tubing, which is a soft plastic, but deburring is poor on copper tubing, even after a few turns. The tool is also quite large, so it may not be able to be…

Pros
  • QUALITY: Only SharkBite quality and performance is field proven with over 550 million connections. SharkBite is the only brand that can provide a clean connection with no leaks
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

This tool will not deburr

This is an ineffective deburring tool. It takes significant effort to achieve any sort of cutting action, and even then I couldn't help but get a smooth cut surface. With my finger I could feel small burrs on the cut surface which I believe may have damaged the Sharkbite o-ring. I had to touch up the end of the tube with sandpaper to remove the burrs on the first two tubes. After that I switched to another instrument. Sharkbite fittings are very good but quite expensive so I didn't want to risk

Pros
  • PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS: Pressure rating 200 psi and 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Potable water and hot water heating applications
Cons
  • Obsolete

Simple and effective really is better in this case

This tool serves a very simple purpose. First, it specifies the depth to which the Shark bite fitting must be inserted into the PEX in order to properly connect the PEX to the fitting. Once the PEX has been deburred by rotating the PEX in the appropriate size tube in the tool, it can be marked with a marker so you know how far to insert the Shark Bite fitting. Cut PEX square. , insert it into the deburring tool and rotate the pipe in both directions to knock off burrs on the PEX pipe. You can…

Pros
  • VERSATILE: SharkBite joins copper, PEX, CPVC and PE-RT pipes in any combination
Cons
  • Empty
