Siless 80 Mil (2Mm) 36 Sqft Car Sound Deadening Mat - Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener - Noise Insulation And Vibration Dampening Material (36 Sqft) Review

I've worked with pure butyl as tapes and sealants and know what that looks, feels and smells like. Despite claims of consisting of butyl, Siless smells of roofing/street tar. While the majority of this product may be butyl, it is not 100%. I will avoid adding this to an interior compartment in concern for smell. I also wonder if this will creep under heat. It seems much more soft after heating than 100% butyl.

I have the interior removed from my Dodge Dakota pickup. While it's out, I took the opportunity to install some sound deadener. I read some reviews that mentioned the weight of this stuff and it intrigued me. I installed it into a Scion xB and in that car, weight counts. I did all 4 doors and the hatch and the difference is night and day. My stereo can be played at a lower volume and the doors now make a satisfying thunk instead of the tinny bang they used to make. Highly recommended.

I was on the fence about buying this brand. Mainly because its way cheaper than the competitors. I ordered 4 boxes for my 2015 Colorado just incase, and I completely filled the roof, entire cabin, and all four doors with 3 boxes. My main concern with this was the smell, which is very slight during install and goes away very quickly (didn't notice after install). Easy to cut/slice. It adheres great. Sound attenuation is good but not amazing - I assume 2 layers would be better. Noticeable improvement on sound deadening of all four doors and speaker sound improvement. But the claims I would need 36 sqft to completely cover a 2017 Toyota Tacoma were way over exaggerated. I covered the inside and most of the outside panels and I still have have more than half the box left over. So I've used a few products on the past. Dynamat was the gold standard. I've not use it lately but I assume it's still one of the top brands. That being said, for the money. You are getting like 80% of same type of performance but at a fraction of the cost. Add the foam and you may actually exceed the top brands when it comes to sound deadening. If you were going to take your door panel off to put new speakers in, you may as well soundproof it. I put this on the very inside of the door as well as what you can see in the picture here. It makes the door sound so much more solid and I believe it improved the sound quality of the speaker output. I plan on adding this to all four doors to soundproof the cabin a little bit more. Clean clean clean. Vacuum, degreasing cleaners, and isopropyl alcohol. I took a wire brush to slight rust spots. Easy to cut. You will need lots of blades, I suggest getting a knife with snap off blades. Get multiple size width rollers. Take your time, and lay out in small sections. Pre fit and cut out any screws, nuts, bolts, plugs you may need access to in future before removing back paper. Used this in the doors of my 2006 Miata. Initially thought I needed an amp but this made enough of a difference that the amp wasn’t needed.

Very simple and easy to work with. I probably should have bought a roller to apply it but it went on well by hand. I've been using it to stop rattles in my camper. As long as the adhesive continues to hold I will buy this same deadener for all future projects
