I don't understand all the good reviews.

The contact surface between the molded base and the air hose seal is not finished. It has to be machined because the casting is drafty and also rough. This allows air to escape through the stuffing box. The Presta valve is difficult to connect and bent one of my valves. The Schraeder connector is also not good because it doesn't open every valve. I paid a good price and received a subpar product. Now collect dust.

Don't waste your money on this one

This pump is well made, but it takes a lot of effort to connect it to a shredder or presta valve. If you're lucky, you might be able to sit correctly once in 10 attempts. Now it just sits in the corner of my garage collecting dust. There's a reason the new version has 2 separate valve mounts instead of messing around with rubber valve adapters. Don't waste money on it. I ended up going back to my old $15 Schwinn bike pump, which connects to the shredder valve on the first try every time. If I…

Made in Germany - floor pump

Construction as in the days when things were repaired instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. It has a cast iron base and heavy gauge steel tubing. . Almost all parts are available, although you may have to order them from Europe to get them. The only plastic parts I see are the nut at the top of the tube and the gauge cap. Overall it has a lot less plastic and feels a lot more durable than my Topeak JB Sport II. The footrest pads are rubber. The only complaint I have is the pressure

New excellent, rubber inserts on the lying metal.

I bought a new SKS Rennkompressor to replace a 30 year old Rennkompressor that stopped pumping after inflating thousands of bike tires. The new one is great, the rubber inserts on the fold out metal legs are a nice improvement and the new cartridge design is excellent. After some searching I was able to find a replacement barrel cleaner for my old SKS pump that kept it looking new so I now have two great Rennkompressor superchargers! SKS pumps are fantastic and last forever…

Awesome, Smooth Power

I bought this pump because I was tired of inflating tires to high pressures with a hand pump. After reading the recommendations, including on Sheldon Brown's website, this seemed like a good option. Sturdy metal construction means this item will last a while. I can inflate tires to 100psi in just 8-10 pumps. I haven't used it on Schrader valves but it works great on Prestas! Well, as long as the stems are long enough as they actually form a seal around the stem, not the threaded portion of the…

  • Great for me
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Highly recommended - spend the money to get a quality pump!

Excellent quality, much better than my previous plastic pump; I almost pumped the first time because the sensations between 110 and 120psi were no different than 60psi. No problem connecting to short Presta valves. You'll notice the quality as soon as you pick it up and feel the weight, especially if you've had a plastic floor pump before like I did. It requires much less effort and fills up to pressure much quicker than a cheaper pump. I feel like I'll never have to replace this one. I have…

Doesn't work at all

Edited to 4 stars: The company sent me a replacement head and it works great with everything but the slick presta valves. Threaded Presta valves are fine, smooth valves don't provide enough friction for this pump. I love that spare parts are available for the pump which means it could be a pump that lasts forever - something I've been looking for for ten years. I'm a bike mechanic in need of a new home pump. The box arrived in 4 parts in a UPS carton, there are no instructions and the pump head

Bulletproof on Bike Pumps

There are two pumps that have stood the test of time. The first is Silca Super Piste, the second is this one. It's about the tank. The air lining works as advertised and is easy to turn on and off. The gauge can be a bit difficult to read in PSI but not too bad. When you pick it up, it becomes clear how difficult it is to work with. This pump has been around for 40 years. Spare parts are available for everything to do with the pump. If you break something, you can get parts for a very cheap…
