hype everyone! - Camera & Photo

This telescope is overpriced. Impossible to get a clear idea. I tried many lenses and it didn't help. It's far from embarrassing to consider for travel. Save money or buy another brand.

Pros
  • THE PERFECT PORTABLE SYSTEM StarTravel Sky-Watcher Kits are designed for those looking for a compact yet powerful system. Combine the Sky-Watcher AZ3 mount with StarTravel achromatic refractive telescopes - fast f/5 optics with high-contrast, wide field of view. They are ideal for astronomy and terrestrial use. The entire setup weighs less than 17 pounds!
Cons
  • Expensive

A good telescope for the advanced beginner.

Good quality product. Looks good and works well on the 60's. I'm looking forward to 2x and 3x Barlow and 6mm to get a better feel for its powerful properties. So far, so good.

Pros
  • PROFESSIONAL QUALITY OPTICS Sky-Watcher StarTravel telescopes are equipped with dual-element, fully multi-coated, air-spaced lenses that provide excellent observation from the ground and stunning views of lunar planets and deep sky objects
Cons
  • Quick Guide

Great scope but NOT from overpriced suppliers

This is an amazing 4" F/5 refractor. Excellent clear DSO view, light weight and amazing 'grap 'n go' travel capabilities. And not bad for low and medium power on the moon and the planet. However, the current price of this rig from Sky-Watcher is 250-300 bones. Whoever pays more, especially from greedy sellers who sell it for 4 times the price range, will only get wet. Stay away from such sellers. Stay away!

Pros
  • WHAT'S IN THE BOX The Sky-Watcher StarTravel 102 AZ3 comes with everything you need to get started right away: a lightweight aluminum tripod for 102mm telescopes, two eyepieces, correcting prism and red dot finder
Cons
  • Mostly good , but...

Great telescope for beginners and serious beginners

Excellent telescope, collects a lot of light with 120 mm (5"") aperture. At f/5.0 the lens aperture is wide, useful for astrophotography. The focal length is 600mm, which is low for a telescope of this size, but that's why this telescope has such a high aperture. About 8 pounds for the telescope alone (more if you add a tripod) is the telescope for its size fairly light, which is useful if you want to replace the tripod with a motorized equatorial mount. It is also easy to transport. The lens…

Pros
  • Lightweight, durable tripod The included Alt-Az az3 aluminum tripod combines portability and stability Slow motion control in vertical (elevation) and horizontal (azimuth) axes for precise aiming Large accessory tray provides convenient storage for eyepieces and other accessories
Cons
  • Almost everything ok
