I'm a new Ooma customer and this new version of Telo Air is great. It was simply connected to my Wi-Fi using the Android Telo Setup app. I also subscribed to the annual premium plan and my local phone number was ported for free. This is a great option as I plan to make full use of the advanced call blocking features and the Ooma Android app to make and receive calls outside of the US. My local phone number was ported from AT&T in less than a week. At this point, the old landline at the entrance

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Great potential, Middlin performance

I only use my home phone for spam calls and 911. Ooma seemed like a great candidate to replace my expensive cable company VOIP phone. First, it looks the same as the Ooma Telo but has built-in WiFi and Bluetooth. So don't be discouraged if you think Revane sent you the wrong box. I bought the Telo Air 2 so I would have the option to place the Ooma anywhere, wired or not. First I set it up for the wireless network. I followed the instructions, downloaded the app to install on my phone and within

Pros
  • even old fashioned

  • Very expensive

The user manual and setup app are sorely lacking

The product itself looks fine now that it's working, but the initial setup left a lot to be desired. I first tried setting up the product using the manufacturer's settings app on the Google Play Store, but the app was "bugy" and useless. The app allowed me to enter all my information to set up my account but kept not responding when I selected "Activate" in the last step. I then tried activating my account using a mobile browser and encountered the same issue. I was finally able to activate myโ€ฆ

After 3 days it works fine with Wi-Fi

After 3 days it works fine. I started with a wired ethernet connection and it worked in the advertised 15 minutes. Calls were clear and both incoming and outgoing worked smoothly - connected to an antiquated AT&T pushbutton phone that I kept for land line testing. I then configured to use WiFi and unplugged the ethernet cable. Still works fine. If this goes on for a week, I will cancel my landline connection. The reason I'm deducting 1 star is because the documentation leaves gaps in what youโ€ฆ

Tech support is very ignorant, can't install, resends

I couldn't use the app to connect my Telo Air to my Wi-Fi network. I called tech support and the person I spoke to didn't even know what Telo Air was. Little did he know there was an app that would make setup easier. After doing a lot of research on his part, he finally started to understand a bit and then instructed me to set it up by connecting Telo Air to my laptop with an Ethernet cable. I explained several times that my laptop didn't have an ethernet port, which he didn't seem toโ€ฆ

Nice looking device. Huge savings over a traditional landline phone.

Bought this about a week ago to ditch my $60 a month Verizon landline! The beauty is that with an annual subscription to the Premier service, you can initiate a free transfer of your old phone number to Ooma. Premier has some nice extras and $9.99 a month, which is less than what Verizon charged me for caller ID! The number porting of my old number was completed in just 5 days. The Ooma website states that porting an existing phone number can take up to three or four weeks. Most of the transfer

Pros
  • Awesome design
Cons
  • Concerns me

All in all a great device and once it works it works flawlessly. It's just a minor thing related to setting up the device that isn't clear. Ooma clearly has a long way to go in smoothing out the documentation and setup process. First, the Android app advertised does NOT connect to Ooma, and it's not at all clear what version of Bluetooth they're using. Technical characteristics of this device could not be found, which is very surprising. Ooma should make this a high priority in addition to theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Fits great for me

  • No instructions
