Description of πŸ”© 250 Stainless Steel Pocket Screws for SML C250S5 Projects

Great for outdoor applications. Thicker fillet radius under the head reduces the possibility of the head twisting off. Large Maxi-Loc Head stops when it hits the bottom of the hole. Needle sharp point minimizes walking. Sharp edge of self-tapping tip drills a cleaner pilot hole.

Good holding power but heads are rounded

These were good screws for the ACQ connection (requires stainless steel fasteners) 2" x 4" with pocket holes. None of the bolts were sheared off, but they were rounded off a bit with a #2 square drive. This happens more often than other steel screws I've used. They screwed themselves into the tree without much effort. The only thing I really complain about is the adjustments that Craig points out to adjust the pocket hole gauge. Does not meet Kreg standards

I have used Kreg products for over ten years and have always been satisfied with their products and continue to use all but this one. As other reviewers have commented. Head is too small for #10 and requires more torque from screwdriver, does not pull/hold joint together as head is too easy to penetrate or remove. The normal "feel" when the screw hits the countersink is gone. Additional drilling for more clearance is also not an option, since the head wants to penetrate deep, which only makes…

Cons
  • Out of fashion

I needed stainless steel screws for use with pressure treated wood. Advantages: Good fixation of the head. you have to press so hard. Plastic box for Kreg screws is reusable. Cons: Square drive is better, but still easier to disassemble than expected. Stainless steel is more expensive. The Kreg screw box cracked so I won't be using it again. The holes in the screw heads are ground before they are inserted (planted) into the blind holes. Then the next pair of screws worked, another one had…
