It is extremely difficult to focus sharply on a moving subject.

I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years. This lens is slow to focus. Unless you have a totally static subject when using the Sony a7iii with this lens, you will find it difficult to get a sharp image. Very frustrating. I focus 99% of my shots manually and this lens just doesn't cut it.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Periodicity

Solid lens. - Camera and Photo

Bought when it reached $150 so great value. Imagine the quality is a bit lower than what I'm used to (I shoot almost exclusively with prime lenses), but for a zoom it's great. Autofocus is fast and image stabilization is solid. Obviously not that good in low light, but it's a worthy alternative to (more expensive zooms) for action and wildlife photography.

Pros
  • Sequins
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Better than Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS

I am planning a trip to Petra, Israel and the Pyramids this year and wanted to make sure I have the best lenses possible. Research has shown that the Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS is the best (affordable) road lens for Sony A#### series cameras. I found this lens much sharper with much nicer side. I'll keep testing but Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS doesn't interest me. I was able to shoot and shoot through the tip with this lens with the same success.

Wow! It's definitely worth it!

Wow! This lens is amazing! I'm not a professional photographer, I mainly shoot with the Sony A6000 as a hobby. I haven't bought a lens in 2 years and was looking for a zoom lens. I saw the G lens but felt the $999 price tag was too high and figured I'd settle for something cheaper. I love it! It's a little heavy, but it's a really great lens. Look at the photos I took of him. The only downside is that it takes a while to focus, which is annoying when I'm trying to photograph a moving bird.

This combination of a6300 and this lens works great, even handheld

I bought this lens for my SONY a6300. I've used the long end to photograph shorebirds here in the Gulf of Mexico, including birds in flight, which require a lens and camera that can focus quickly. This combination of the a6300 and this lens also works great in the hand. Even when shooting in RAW format, it can capture 8-9 frames per second. The lens is stabilized, making it easier to keep sharp images and still capture them. I also used it recently at a fencing tournament and was able to…

  • Definitely bad product

I'm relatively new to Sony's line of lenses for mirrorless cameras. About a year ago I was only using Sony point and shoot cameras but I was looking for something new when I found my A6000 mirrorless camera but as a newbie I didn't know that 30x optical zoom is not the same as 55 times. 210mm, so that was a bit of a shock. It's really my fault for not doing my research properly. I had no problems at all with this lens. In fact, I think it takes better photos than the 20-55mm lens that came with

Pros
  • That's it for now.
Cons
  • negative is available.

I bought this lens with my recently purchased Sony A6000 camera. Works perfectly. 55 to 210 is a range I find incredibly useful as a wildlife photographer. While Sony's mirrorless camera isn't going to replace my full-fledged tier DSLR any time soon, this lens performs very well and the zoom range goes where the A6000's 16-50 lens leaves off. Very light, nice texture on the zoom ring; I bought my lens with little use and it expands and contracts very easily. I don't think the weight of the…

Pros

Not bad but not great

I know it's a cheaper lens so I'm thinking about it. It's great for the quick fix I needed it for until I could afford something better, but there are some serious issues with the way it captures that I noticed. Worst of all, the focus ring is indeterminate. It takes 2-3 full turns to go completely from one focus point to another, which should only be an issue with high-zoom lenses. And even then I was shooting with large zoom lenses that only rotated 1.5x. This isn't good for run-and-gun…
