High-quality product, the price corresponds to the quality.

In general, I couldn't be happier that I decided to add this lens to my collection of workhorses. I use a Sony a7II camera for all of my shooting. I began taking photographs of him in July of 2022 and have attached a few of my favorites to this message. The search term "Pavel Zhdan photographer Hong Kong" will bring up further examples of his work.

Pros
  • Hello everyone, I specialize in wedding and fashion-wedding photography and work as a professional photographer. After shooting with Sony mirrorless cameras for the past 2.5 years, I decided to treat myself to a Sony FE 85 1.4 GM lens so that I could take portraits from the front and the waist. Already from the moment that I unpacked the package, I realized what the reviewers commended it for: the construction quality, the material from which it is constructed, and everything else is at the greatest level possible. It was only natural for me to find something to photograph straight away, and it did exceptionally well in the tests, both outside with an open aperture of 1.4 and indoors with a closed aperture. The sharpness is outstanding, and the picture and bokeh are superior to those of any other lens I have tried; in fact, even the renowned Canon 85mm 1.2L is surpassed by it. The functionality of the button labeled "focus memory" met all of my expectations. The autofocus operates at a lightning-fast pace, particularly when compared to the zezes via the A-mount adaptor.
Cons
  • This lens has one problem for me, and that is that due to the diameter of its body, it partially conceals the autofocus sensor. This is obviously an annoying element, but it is not a deal breaker.

For the past few months, this lens has been my go-to for photography. Typically restless young people. Aperture wide open: that's how I photograph almost exclusively! Someone has griped about the pace, but it doesn't seem slow to me. My only point of reference is Kenon 1.2, and uh, it's lot faster and the image looks much better. There was zero hilarity, which was also quite pleasant. In comparison to other 85s, this one has a softer blur, which I find to be a major plus. I enjoy the clarity…

Pros
  • Sharp, no HA, great bokeh, vivid colors, and a handy side button that brings autofocus right to your eyes.

I'd want to spend a little bit of time discussing my go-to camera lens, which is the Sony G Master 85 1.4. It is often regarded as the most effective original Sony lens for portraiture; in this article, I will explain why this is the case and also discuss some of the lens' drawbacks. In this analysis, there will be no comparisons made with other available options; Because it is not made from local glass, it is no longer a rival. This is already my second lens, since the first one was…

Pros
  • Among the most impressive portraits. - Sharp picture - Minimum HA - Controls as well as user-defined buttons - The quality of the assembly and the aperture ring, both with and without a click
Cons
  • - Not the quickest autofocus, and there is no stabilization

Indeed, Grand Master

Wow, that's an outdated lens that will be talked about for years to come. No CA at all, which is remarkable for a fast lens like this. The character and tone of this lens is beautiful. I appreciate the aperture ring on the lens barrel, it's quicker to change mid-shoot if you use it. There's a distinct noise when the lens focuses, but it's not as noticeable as some say. Heck, if that sounded like a chainsaw, I'd still use it. Compared to Zeiss 1.4 and Nikon 1.4G, I consider this lens my first…

Finally, this price is closer to the right one 😇

Yes, it's still quite an expensive purchase. But if you're into portraiture, this is a dream lens. I really like IQ, edge to edge. I've been looking forward to this lens for a long time. I've shot portraits with a 90mm f2.8 macro lens that works well. But to get two full stops of light out of the Thr 85, I had to pull the trigger. Although mine is only a few days old. I have occasionally borrowed a copy from a friend over the past few years. Now I've paired it with a Sony Alpha1 and it's a…

Big and heavy, but AMAZING!

First of all I have been shooting for 6 years with a Canon t2i and an 85mm 1.8 lens. I just upgraded to the a7iii a few months ago and wanted a new 85mm lens for it so I ordered this one. When it arrived it was a lot bigger and a lot heavier than I expected. But as soon as I started using it, this thing blew my mind! It's incredibly sharp, the bokeh is smooth and the overall image quality with this lens is amazing! When I use autofocus I hear a little noise from the lens, but I only notice it…

This is a portrait lens that should have excellent bokeh. However

As the products for this lens are well known I will only focus on the smaller products for this lens. This is a portrait lens that should have great bokeh. However, the bokeh is not outstanding. Yes, it's fairly round in the central area and doesn't even have that wobbly bulbous ring common to other Sony lenses like the SEL2470F28GM. But when you get to the edges and corners, the bokeh shrinks (no longer round) and starts to get a little jittery on the inside. There are two lessons to be…

Incredibly sharp

I have a Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 so I wasn't sure if it was a necessary addition. I've also heard some complaints about autofocus noise. But after seeing some amazing sample images I decided to give it a try. As with the Sony 24-70 f/2.8 GM lens, the image quality of the 85mm GM is incredible. Amazingly sharp and beautiful rendering. Two questions that may arise: 1. Is autofocus noise a problem? In my opinion no, absolutely not. Based on some other comments I was expecting something loud and…

Expensive sharp special lens

This is an expensive special lens. It's relatively heavier, has a faster aperture, slower autofocus, and costs more than the Batis 85. It's not a travel lens. This is a great lens for portraits. The images are excellent, with excellent perspective and image isolation. You can shoot with aperture priority and set the minimum shutter speed to 1/125 s or faster. With a large aperture, the focal plane is so small that only one eye can be imaged sharply. Eye focus lets you capture a moving baby…

Excellent lens with low focus noise. This is my keeper.

This is a great lens and I'm sure it gets more use than my other lenses on my camera, although it's not a perfect lens. The image quality produced by this lens is similar to Rokinon 85mmF1.4 and Nikon 85mF1.4G. Maybe at F1.4 it's sharper and more contrast. However, this lens still lags behind my Zeiss 135mm F1.8ZA, which produces more "pop” photos, in my opinion, thanks to the higher micro-contrast and Zeiss-specialized color. I was happy with the Rokinon 85mmF1.4. This lens doesn't make me…
