Works great, have been using this part for about a year now with no problems. If you follow the instructions you shouldn't have any problems. I ordered a set of smaller screwdrivers to install the new drive. Do not attempt to remove or reinstall the drive without the proper tools. You have to replace the motherboards and use the originals, this is all according to the instructions.

I only gave 1 star because the drive is so noisy and the grease is messing up all my CDs and my discs are unreadable. Everything works fine but they don't tell you it's a brand new drive and you need to run the Blue Ray Driver Cleaner. Every disc I put in there was actually stained with some kind of oil or solution that comes with the Blue-Ray eye. Which in turn pollutes the drive for every CD you put in there.

Didn't get a disc from the BDP-20 model which is good the hardware turned out to fit. So all I had to do was change the daughter board. obviously used by another system and was also broken and sounded like a saw. Luckily the new drive had a motor problem and my old one had a laser problem so I was able to disassemble the hardware and replace the laser.

The drive works great but I had to slightly adapt the instructions in other reviews and forums. My original daughter board that connected to the old drive was a BDP-025. The daughter board shipped with the new drive is model BDP-020. The reviews and forums I've read said we need to swap out the daughter boards or the drive won't work. There are many references stating that the motherboard and daughterboard should stay together until a new daughterboard is flashed. I followed these instructions…

I found it was defective it made a loud squeak so I sent it back and they also sent me a replacement was also faulty simply installed when I tried to insert the disc it only went halfway and the disc was not ejected, I had to remove the disc manually. Both times the return process went smoothly. Not sure if I was unlucky or if it was just a bad batch of discs. All I can say is buy at your own risk.

Installation went well as expected. When I unfolded the device and turned it over, I heard something rattling inside. I took it apart and found a small white plastic driveshaft dangling inside. I don't know how it fell out, but I had to disassemble a new optical drive to put it back in. I did nothing but install the old daughterboard that is on top of the device. I would test yours before installing them on your machine just to be on the safe side. Seems to be working fine now. But a big pain…
