Type of review

I have one of those bike racks where the bike hangs off the back of the car, and I didn't want to have all the weight hanging on the suspension of my new MTB - This has worked perfectly! Super easy to put on and take off, but also gives me the confidence that my bike is held sturdy when I'm driving. Great buy!

Pros
  • Fits my wife's hybrid bike with a mixte frame just fine, goes on our new Saris Bone rack.
Cons
  • Can be tricky to adjust for different frame sizes

Sturdy and compatible

I put this on my wife's smaller frame ladies bike, and it does the trick! The ends are easy to open and close, and the construction is such that it does not scratch her bike. I have an open jeep, so when we park to bike ride, I needed to secure it. I drilled through near one end, and bolted a small cable to it, so I can lock it under the jeep seat while riding. It would have been nice to have some sort of way to lock it without doing it myself, but I think most people have a vehicle they can…

Pros
  • Great product at a fair price.
Cons
  • The locking mechanism can be finicky and may require frequent adjustments

Better than Yakima best in my review

I had a Yakima adapter for several years, for my wife's bike. It is solid, but the end clips are very hard to open. It is better than nothing, but far from satisfactory. I got the Stoneman adapter for a new bike of mine that needed one. It is so much better that I bought a second one to replace the old Yakima, even though it still works. I'll give the Yakima to someone who needs something that is better than nothing. It will be years before I know if it is as sturdy as the Yakima, but it looks…

Pros
  • The durable straps ensure that your bike is firmly secured and won't wobble or sway during transit, preventing any damage or accidents
Cons
  • Can make it difficult to mount or dismount from your bike

Buy it on Ebay, not in the store

Purchased this to go with a bike rack I purchased at Dick's Sporting Goods. That same store wanted 3 1/2 times the money for basically the same adaptor.Mtn Bike-With most mountain bikes having sloped top tubes, I recommend this set up to anyone who wants their bike to stay very secure on any bike rack on the back of your car/suv.Road Bike- Protect your frame from getting scratched and use this adaptor. Many bike racks can scratch your top tube and seat tube.An added bonus here is the fact that…

Pros
  • The adapter is easy to adjust, allowing you to quickly and easily change the height or positioning of your bike on the rack
Cons
  • Can be difficult to attach or remove with certain types of bike locks

Makes mounting my bike on the rack so much easier!

I have a step thru bike - AKA a girl's bike - so sometimes mounting on a bike rack can be a little tricky. This solves the problem. And I like that it is coated so as to not scratch the bike.

Pros
  • The soft rubber padding protects your bike's frame from scratches or damage while it's being transported
Cons
  • The adapter may not work well for bikes with non-standard frame shapes or designs

Works on women's beach cruiser

After checking all the bike frame adaptors, we went ahead and purchased this one. It's works perfectly. We used it with a Hollywood Expedition Rack for 2 bikes. We have a Felt women's beach cruiser and the adaptor fit without problem between the seat post and handlebars. If there was any issue with the adaptor it would have been that on one side we had to put not the plain bar but the actual pin connector part into the bike rack holder. This never became an issue, we just made sure the pin part

Pros
  • Works great. No issues and easy to use
Cons
  • Can cause extra wind resistance and drag while biking

Great Adaptor,worth more

My wife and I have a Toyota Prius and took up bicycle riding after my retiring. Hollywood provided a perfect fitting bike rack but to my dismay I couldn't figure out how to get my wife's "girl" bike securely on the rack. She checked different web sites and we found that adding a bar to the bike making it look like a "boy's" bike would allow it to be mounted on the rack securely. This rack is so simple to attach and remove once we're to our driven destination. Because the bikes fit so closely to

Pros
  • Telescopic bar allows for fitting to multiple bike sizes
Cons
  • The adapter may not work well for women's or children's bikes

Does the job, but the length is not lockable

Fits both my son's bike (24" youth bike) and my wife's bike (16" women's frame). Seems fairly sturdy, but I'm not a huge fan of the design in that the 'extendability' of the adapter is not lockable and can freely lengthen/contract when you're storing it or using it. Likely there is no real concern, but it makes me a little uneasy.

Pros
  • Its adjustable design means it can accommodate a variety of bike sizes and frame styles, so you won't have to buy a different adapter for each bike you own
Cons
  • Can be confusing to attach and remove initially

I bought two of these Sparehand adapters to ensure stability when we hang our hybrid bikes up on our new bike storage rack. As you can see, they do the job!Pros:very easy to operate (click and pull)secure when lockedwork perfectly for our needsCons:noneDefinitely recommend.

Pros
  • Worked as expected and easy to use
Cons
  • Does not work well with thick or bulky bike frames

Serious mountain bikers, be careful!

I initially bought this product after searching endlessly for a review by an owner of the same bike I had recently bought (2010 Specialized Enduro), but with no luck. There were multiple reviews by owners of bikes with unusual geometry, so I thought I was looking at the right product.Unfortunately, no. If you have a high-dollar mountain bike, you probably have a large headset with limited or no space between it and your stem, like mine. I had to use the larger of the two ends of the adapter…

Pros
  • Its universal design means it can be used with any type of car, truck, or SUV, regardless of the size or shape of the vehicle
Cons
  • May require constant adjusting to keep it centered and stable on your bike

Great Product for my opinion

After two times trying to transport my new step through style bike without an adapter, I knew I had to get some sort of adapter. Due to local road conditions most of my riding is at parks - and I need to get the bike there somehow. 20+ minutes fighting to attach the bike to the car was not going to work.I picked this adapter due to the great reviews on Ebay. All the reviews are correct. This item is easy to use (only takes a few seconds to attach), sturdy, and does the job well. I can now just…

Pros
  • It eliminates the need for expensive and bulky bike racks, making it a more cost-effective and convenient option for cyclists on a budget
Cons
  • May not work well with bicycles that have a sloping top tube

Well made, except for broken elastic.

The elastic inside the bar snapped the first time the bar was extended - with VERY little force applied. I disassembled the bar and removed the elastic to find it was very badly frayed where it broke. Obviously it was like this when it left the vendor. I repaired it using a small bungee cord and everything seems to be OK. I have not requested a refund or replacement as it now works fine. However, the vendor should look into possible QC issues. I'm posting this here because there is no option in

Pros
  • With its durable construction, this adapter can handle even the heaviest bikes, providing a sturdy and secure option for cyclists of all shapes and sizes
Cons
  • Can be challenging to store or transport when not in use

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great, but tends to ride too high

Works great, but tends to ride too high, causing the bike to ride too low on the bike rack. That doesn't mean the bar is defective, there's just nothing to keep the front end of it from sliding all the way up to the handelbars. I cure the problem by wrapping a bungee cord around the bar and the bike frame underneath it, effectively holding the bar in its (proper) lower position. Not a big deal at all.

Pros
  • Hangers are vinyl-coated to prevent damage to the bicycles
Cons
  • Can cause damage to your car's paint or bodywork during transport

Great adapter for womens bike carrier

It was hard to get my womens style bike onto our car bike trailer until my husband found this. It goes on easily, is very sturdy and make the bike much easier to put on and take off the carrier rack.

Pros
  • It's a cost-effective solution for those who want to transport their bikes without having to invest in a dedicated bike rack
Cons
  • Can inhibit your ability to access certain parts of your bike, such as the water bottle cage

Works fine and a lot cheaper than Yakima

This bar works as designed and seems to be well built. No issues while carrying a mountain bike off-road on the back of a Jeep.

Pros
  • The adapter is lightweight and compact, making it easy to take with you on the go and transport your bike to any location
Cons
  • Can be difficult to attach for those with limited mobility or dexterity

wished I had known of adapter bars sooner

I have a Diamondback WOMENS bike which was an unholy pain to load and unload for bike rides. When I was looking to possibly buy a new bike rack, I came up on these adapter bars. I looked at a great many on Ebay and felt this would be the best bang for my buck. I have used it several time with no issues. This one is very easy to put on and take off and makes it infinitely easier to load and unload my bike from the rack. A must-have for traveling with "non-standard" bikes.

Pros
  • Its lightweight construction means that it won't slow you down or affect your bike's performance during use
Cons
  • The adapter may not work well for bikes with custom paint or graphics

works like it is supposed to

It is simple to install and held the bike steady in the bike rack. The bike we used it on was a women's didn't have a cross bar, so used it to secure the bike.

Pros
  • good for kid's bike, women's bike, etc.
Cons
  • Extra accessory for your bike, increasing the cost of your sport

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works like a charm on my review.

Not the most elegant of designs but worked as advertised and mentioned in other reviews. It is sturdy and looks built to last a long time. Not sure why the poor reviewers mentioned the bike fell off the bike rack in transit, because this should not happen if strapped on as recommended by the supplier. Would have given it 5-stars if not for the design, but not the fault of the manufacture, just how my bike is designed.

Pros
  • Its durable construction means it can withstand exposure to the elements, making it suitable for use in all types of weather conditions
Cons
  • Increases the overall size of your bike, making it harder to store or transport

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sturdy and works best in my review

The product worked as advertised and it fit my child's bike fine.Only complaint is that it could have come with better instructions.Installation is a bit tricky first time. But once you get used to it, it works as intended.

Pros
  • Fits sloppy and you still need to use multiple bungee cords to keep bike from bouncing around
Cons
  • Not suitable for heavy-duty use or large bike frames

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as good as higher priced ones

Works great for when we need to transport bikes on rack. Need this for bike rack to hold step through bike in place. Easy to use and works as well as the $50 one we had to buy for the other bike .

Pros
  • Used for indoor storage, auto bike carrier.
Cons
  • May require additional tools or specialized equipment to attach correctly
