🔍 Spicer 46470 Engine Oil Seal Review

Great genuine replacement gasket for my 30'98 Jeep XJ Dana. Dana 30 removed for overhaul. These seals did it! A 36mm jack and some extensions to put it in. After removing the old fillings, they were in perfect condition. Same brand!

Fits perfectly. With a little effort you can attach them and be sure that they will do their job. I replaced the ball joints and decided the seals needed replacing while removing the shafts. I trust spice products and these fillings have never let me down!

Of the four fills I managed to get only one. They are too tight on the body and fit into panties. If that's not enough, there's their new version from Timken and National, which also has a lip that makes it easier to reinstall the CV shaft without tearing the seal, and also appears to have a more modern and updated seal .

Direct replacement for my WJ with Dana 30 front axle and allows you to use a set of 1/2 head extensions and a hammer to drive in the seals. You need two people to install it. You'll need one to hold the seal in place and the other to operate the hammer.

Installed on 1999 Jeep Cherokee xj by Dana 30 axle. High quality seal, looks the same as the original. Use a 36mm socket and a set of extensions to tap out the old gasket and install the new one. If you check the play it should be about 8 thousandths, at least I had before removing and the same after reinstalling the holder. Easy job except I had to use a pry bar to get it out, there are some youtube videos to help with this.

This is one star due to the condition of the seals when I received them. This is not a negative review for Spicer as they make quality parts. I believe this is a storage/handling issue that has exposed the seals to moisture which is causing the rusting problem. Whatever the case, no one should receive new parts in such poor condition. This is a huge inconvenience and delay in getting work done. There should definitely be better controls.
