Danger - wrong voltage! Labeled 5V but outputs 12V!

Purchased for use with some IP cameras that accept 5V with a 5.5 x 2.1 barrel jack. When I wanted to connect it I decided to test how close it is to 5V 2A. It uses a USB tester that I have. God I'm glad - it saved me hundreds of dollars on fried cameras! Turns out it says 5V everywhere, but REALLY outputs 12V! One of mine was also missing a microUSB adapter. Not that it matters as they both appear to be 12v instead of 5v.

  • Pleasant

Bought for an HDHomeRun device and it works great

I like how this can power the HDHomeRun Connect Duo (Antenna Tuner). I bought a 2.1mm x 5.5mm to 1.7mm x 4.0mm converter that fits and it works great. EDIT: After having problems with my device, I started downloading the logs and saw HDHomeRun keeps losing network connection. I checked a bunch of possible fixes and nothing worked until I connected an extension cord to power the device and just used a regular Cat6 patch cord instead of that device - then everything worked great. I asked PLUSPOEโ€ฆ

Hard to find parts, works great

I really like this splitter. I have several 5V devices, but some have micro USB connectors, some have barrel jacks, and some use other types of USB connections. With that I can run them all because you have all the adapters you get. There are other adapters that cost less and only have a micro USB connector, but I appreciate the versatility. Also, the 3 I've bought so far have been reliable and all my devices haven't experienced any power fluctuations.

  • handy

This is not a POE splitter

I figured it would go through the 48v POE and split the 5v power supply. It actually takes 48V POE and drops it to 5V and only transmits data. So for a Raspberry Pi it's great, but running an existing POE camera and adding a second IOT device with 5V WiFi support won't work.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Modern

Junk to Avoid - Networking Products

Here is another junk product, probably from China. Bad connection and it took 3 attempts to get one that works. Unfortunately, that was the only way to connect.

  • Gotcha!

Exactly what I was looking for.

Seems to have some mixed reviews here, maybe a bad batch? I bought a 12V POE and it has worked great so far. First I checked the output (12.2V) and then connected it to the camera. It loaded well. So far I've only tested it indoors. But I will say that I bought this particular device as it was really suitable for outdoor use. After unpacking, the case made a very stable impression with a decent weight. How it actually holds up, time will tell. I'll post another update if it fails!

Pros
  • Good build
Cons
  • No

They don't work as advertised

I've tried these various Cisco switches for mini iPad with no success. Cisco switches support POE and POE+. The support for them is very poor, you get an email at 4am so I'm assuming it's Asian country support. I've used other brands here with no problems, stay away from this product.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Obsolete model

The splitter is perfect for 12V IR Illuminator

I used the splitter to add an IR Illuminator to improve night vision for security cameras. I ran a CAT 6 cable from the POE switch to the splitter. Works as it should and much easier than finding/using a 110 outlet with a lightweight power supply.

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Protection
