I've been using store bought disposable plastic grinders lately and they don't grind evenly. Using these grinders will provide a more consistent grind. Overall it saves money and gives me more choice when buying large packs of sea salt and pepper than buying a disposable plastic grinder. Also less waste as it can be reused.

I just used a pepper grinder. Difficult to use and sands unevenly. It is also somewhat inconvenient to use. He also drops the ground pepper a little over half an inch. In order for it to spread further, the grinder must be lifted much higher above the target, then the pepper will float in the air. I assume a salt mill would work just as badly.

Looks great. Mills look great on the table, but when you have to use them, they break. There is a small black ring at the top that needs to be turned, it should attach to the silver piece at the bottom but it isn't. To grind salt or pepper you have to hold this black ring while turning it. Nobody has used salt or pepper grinders since I bought them. So again they look great and on my desk they will appear full but no one finds them attractive.

This new set was bought to replace an old set we had which had the grinders completely worn out. You already have problems in just a few months. When grinding, you must hold the top black plastic part, otherwise it will rotate with the base and the grinder will not grind. We tend to leave the lid closed to make it easier to hold the plastic in place while grinding, then carefully remove the lid to get the ground spice into the lid.
