Great value for money

The guy had the exact same radio / accidentally forgot on the boat he chartered came back someone stole it. He loved that I bought him the exact same radio but cheaper than what he paid for! 100% functional and easy to use!

Wet and no longer working

Took the radio for a jet ski trip on the Bahamas Bimini from Miami. The sea was rough and the radio got wet. It stopped working and couldn't use it anymore. This could be a dangerous situation for me if I find myself in an awkward position without any form of communication.

GREAT marine radio

GREAT boat safety radio, it transmits your coordinates as it transmits. BUT you MUST register online with USBoat or others to obtain an "MMSI Number” that identifies this radio, YOU, and your boat information to YOU when sending or using the one-touch emergency button, and if required for the Use in an emergency, this radio has all the essential functions, floats, lights up. Hopefully you'll never need it, but if you do, it might be worth its weight in gold. Cheap insurance at this price.

Humidity killed this marine radio. HUMIDITY. Pooh.

I bought this radio last December (2020). Since then I keep it in a waterproof boat bag. Today, five months later, I realized that I should probably make sure the radio is charged for the day on the water ahead of me. The radio turns on with the normal initial screen, but then the screen crashes. Nothing but black spots on the LCD. Also, a lot of moisture behind the screen. Also, the rubber antenna failed and separated from the antenna's internal wire. This is supposed to be a waterproof marine

As advertised: Marine Electronics

I've been using an older Standard Horizon laptop for a number of years and have no complaints. I decided to upgrade to the DSC feature and it turned out to be the best value with the features I wanted. DSC call, waterproof, buoyant and internal GPS navigation. I saw a review that said this unit doesn't actually float, so that was the first thing we checked after assembling it right out of the box. Not only does it float, but the water-activated strobe function activates without turning the…

Great product with no-contact customer service if there is a problem

I rarely write product reviews but I think I should warn others about what to expect when they buy a Standard Horizon. About a month after I received the product, it suddenly had an issue where the screen would light up but the buttons would not respond and nothing would appear on the screen itself. After an initial relatively quick support email response, I received the names of two distributors who I was told could provide support. After several rounds of emails with both of them, one of them
