🔌 Enhanced Performance Solenoid - Standard Motor Products SS581 Review

I used to always trust High Standard's 'Blue Streak' - I got this solenoid, installed it on our ranch truck (1974 F-250) and after 2 days it wouldn't start until I jumped over it "Sorry, sorry" for the once high standard branded High Standard solenoid valve, better pack your bags (I have their branded spark plug leads on my truck, they are number 1). Don't waste your time on this BUT thanks Revain for letting me know this Return part - Revain takes good care of its customers!

The solenoid failed and my starter motor was stuck in the start position, burning my starter motor and burning some of the battery leads from the amp until then it stuck until I could disconnect the battery cable and disengage the starter. I bought this one because it was better than average. Installed the $12 media I bought afterwards and it works great. No problem. waste of extra money. very disappointed.

So far the quality is as good as OE. The original lasted 40 years and still works well apart from electrical corrosion on the battery connector.

Definitely better than the stock units I bought at my local AP store. You can feel the weight and the cleats don't move like the others straight out of the box (sometimes).

I still give the product a 5 star rating because Standard makes good products. Looking for a new starter magnet. Reliable, OEM-compatible, good price. Unfortunately I received an empty open envelope with nothing inside. Either someone stole it or it broke and slipped out of the package without anyone noticing. I had to go to the local auto parts store and spend double the amount to buy an unfamiliar brand. Very disappointing :( . Apart from being lost this would be perfect.
